Jeff’s take

Though this movie was not completely horrible, I expected more from it. It had a lot of good moments, and this movie is actually perfect for Halloween, as most people who are fans of scary things and supernatural forces will enjoy it. I feel like it is the perfect movie to fit the time of year. I would recommend this movie to anybody who is a fan of horror movies that cause blood pressure to spike, especially if they are fans of bloody violence and gory scenes.

Jefferson Bert’s personal author message

On a personal level, I was actually very disappointed in the quality of this movie despite the recommendation for most people. I felt like there could have been more to the story, and for me it was very hard to tell the mother apart from the supernatural force, even if this was the point.

I also believe that this movie imparts the message to children that a parent would harm them. I value supportive family relationships, so I thoroughly disagree with this movie’s premise, as it tends to put a parent in a bad light. The child’s relationship with one parent also didn’t resonate with me, and the premise affected how I felt about the film.

Another problem I have with this movie is that it basically rushes the ending. Not only that, but the ending was predictable for me once I got into the movie. I will admit that they threw a bit of a curveball in towards the end. I will not say what happens, as I do not want to ruin it for those who have not seen the movie, but I have to say even the curveball wasn’t a good enough reason for the movie’s events. I couldn’t believe the reason they gave for everything that had happened up to that point.

Having said that, I did enjoy this movie despite its flaws. A long time ago, I used to only be a fan of rom-coms, but with help from a very good friend of mine, I’ve adopted an admiration for these types of movies featuring people being stalked and having to find ways out of situations while someone tries to murder them or force them into something, etc. This is of course within reason, though.

For what it’s worth, the movie did give me some enjoyment and it was worth the time to see. Therefore, despite some questionable moments and this movie’s premise, it will not completely fail. It was good enough to satisfy me, but it could also have been better.
