This movie follows a police officer who teams with a no-nonsense mob boss to determine the culprit when a house belonging to a family of colour is burned down in an act of racism.

Jeff’s verdictIt is one that is definitely recommended. This should be the case for all movies that Mark Wahlberg is cast in. He is a treasure on screen. Just his presence alone gives any movie a passing review, no matter how bad or questionable the movie is otherwise, but in this movie’s case, it was also a great movie!

Content advisoryNot recommended for young children. Gory scenes, extreme violence, brief sexual content, coarse language, scenes depicting racial undertones, scenes of arson, scenes depicting law enforcement, scenes depicting gang violence and a scene depicting harm to an animal.

This movie follows a police officer who teams with a no-nonsense mob boss to determine the culprit when a house belonging to a family of colour is burned down in an act of racism.

Prior to me seeing this movie, the only thing I knew about it was that Mark Wahlberg was in it. I had no conception of the storyline of the movie or who was good and bad or what the central plot of this movie was.

Having said that, despite me knowing very little about this movie initially, the casting of Mark Wahlberg would have been enough to boost the rating, maybe even to a passing score, even if the rest of the movie could have been better and even if I never understood the plot of it to begin with.

The fact is that my admiration for Mark Wahlberg as an actor is very high and I love the way he acts. Therefore, any movie he’s in is one that I desire to see.

However, I will give this movie credit. Just as I was starting to think that the movie lacked any other redeeming quality aside from the casting of Mark Wahlberg, it suddenly started to improve in quality and make a lot more sense.

The violence towards the ending was very intriguing, to say the least, and I found myself cheering by the end. I also applauded the fact that despite Mark Wahlberg being in a very gruesome fight in some scenes, he barely ended up with even a scratch on him.

This is what I love most about this actor in general. Most things that he wants, he gets, whereas other characters within the film either fail or have to fight tooth and nail to get the things that they want or need.

Even though this movie started off slow in delivering on its promise to keep fans entertained, the fact is that eventually it succeeded in doing that, at least as far as I’m concerned.

To prove how great Mark Wahlberg is not only as an actor but as a human being, he said during an interview about this movie that by the end, people would be cheering and clapping. Well, this is exactly what I was doing by the end of this film.

It is one that is definitely recommended. This should be the case for all movies that Mark Wahlberg is cast in. He is a treasure on screen. Just his presence alone gives any movie a passing review, no matter how bad or questionable the movie is otherwise, but in this movie’s case, it was also a great movie!

Content advisoryA slow, documentary-style drama that did not work for me. Its pacing and presentation may not appeal to viewers looking for comedy, action or a more conventional storyline.

This disappointing movie follows a stunt driver who attempts and fails to perform a high jump that everybody around him doubts he can complete, only for him to proceed with it anyway with devastating results.

You’re going to notice that this review is a little different from all of the others I’ve written so far. I have not given any sort of movie-related genres in my description.

This is not because I’m lazy. It’s simply because I struggled to find anything positive to say about this movie.

I’m literally not kidding when I say that this movie is a waste of time. I’ve seen many flops in my day, but this has got to be the worst.

As for what the problem with this movie was, what I described in the section where I listed the expected genres really sums it up. I found it poorly executed and ultimately a waste of my time.

There is literally nothing good about this movie. I definitely wouldn’t recommend it.

Author’s message

I would think that since I aspire to be a movie critic someday, I should know when I have a better selection of movies at home as opposed to what’s at the theatre.

The biggest problem I have is that I don’t seem to assess the quality of the movie enough by watching the trailer.

When watching this film, I saw that it had Ed Helms in it. Though he is not my favourite actor, he has had some movies that I enjoyed watching, so I figured I would give this a try.

I believed that he might bring some much-needed comedic effect to a movie that was only subpar based on the genre.

This movie is basically a documentary, and those movies I cannot stand. This could have been a movie that wouldn’t have completely passed due to the genre, but also wouldn’t have completely failed if Ed Helms had delivered on his ability to add comedic effect to certain roles.

Another aspect of the problem I have is that I look at some trailers for movies and I see an outing. More specifically, I see an outing where I will get to eat popcorn.

This was a fact that was brought up by my mother years ago before I started doing these reviews, as I would jump at the chance to go to any movie regardless of my desire to see it or know what it was about, just to eat popcorn.

This was definitely one of those movies.

In my mind, it is recommended to two different types of people: any new parents who are trying to get their babies to sleep, as implied through the sarcastic listing of “naptime movie” in relation to this movie’s genre, or those few people on Earth who make almost as much money as Ed Helms himself and don’t live paycheque to paycheque.

In other words, people who don’t have to be careful with how much money they spend and have money to waste.

Of course, I fall into the category of living paycheque to paycheque, and the money I spent to see this nonsense movie is money I regret spending, but more importantly, money I can never get back.

My initial thought when deciding to see this movie was that I had been off the horse in terms of my reviews recently due to a brief and mild illness and the resulting fatigue.

This movie is the first one I’ve reviewed in a little while, though I have done a few holiday shorts in between, and I figured that it would be a good place to get back on the horse and start doing reviews more regularly.

I thought this movie would be a comedy, but it wasn’t, and it was a complete letdown from start to finish.

It was so bad that I was able to come up with my own movie in my head with this one providing background noise. It’s called “It’s All in Your Head, Jeff,” and it’s a documentary that details the fake life I have in my head, which is complete with a beautiful bride and a ton of money.

Certain aspects of the movie in my head caused me to laugh, and that’s pretty much as close as this movie will get to me enjoying it because, truth be told, there’s nothing funny in this movie.

To sum it all up, not even the presence of Ed Helms could persuade me to give this movie a passing score.

Everyone should do themselves a favour and not watch this movie unless they have time or money to waste.

It was absolutely horrible. I will have to start properly assessing movies I desire to see based on what they’re about before I choose if I want to see them.

As of right now, I will say that I will pick another movie from my endless selection of movies at home to watch to make up for this absolute inconvenience of a movie.

It absolutely sucked. I’m sorry, but it did. There was nothing good about it.

Content advisorySuitable for all ages. Scenes depicting fear of abandonment and claustrophobia and mild frightening scenes.

This animated short based on the Toy Story franchise finds Woody and the gang attempting to return to the suitcase they were in after Bonnie and her mother become stranded at a motel when they experience car trouble during a road trip. They must remain there overnight because the car can only be repaired the next day. Mr. Potato Head decides to leave the suitcase despite Woody’s rational warning to stay inside.

This animated short has the distinction of being the shortest movie I’ve ever reviewed since starting my reviews. The length of this movie is only 22 minutes, but I thought it would be a good way to start my Halloween movie reviews.

This movie opens with the gang watching a scary movie while in the trunk of a car, so I figured it would be very easy to review this one.

I noticed that it incorporates some horror-like elements, including thunder and lightning and the toys being stuck in the dark and having to find their way back.

There are a couple of things I take issue with in regard to the plot and layout of this movie.

First of all, I have to agree with Woody’s declaration that Mr. Potato Head leaving the suitcase was a bad idea. If he never left, the gang would have been safe the whole time.

Maybe they could have used this time to have a party inside the suitcase if they were quiet enough. Throughout the films, they don’t normally get a chance to interact that much without the fear that a human may enter the room.

This could have been a good opportunity for this to happen since Bonnie and her mother were sleeping and wouldn’t just randomly walk in like they normally would.

Also, I don’t understand why this couldn’t have been another full-length movie in the franchise. It could have been listed as a Toy Story Halloween movie.

I’ve heard of a lot of movies that have sequels attached to a certain holiday, such as Christmas or Halloween. There was no need for this movie to only be an animated short, and I can think of at least two or three good storylines for the movie.

Maybe Bonnie’s mother is handing out candy on Halloween and she accidentally drops one of the toys into a trick-or-treater’s bucket while trying to give out a handful of small candy. The toy would then need to find its way back.

Or maybe the gang gets left in a closet accidentally while Bonnie is attending a costume party. They find a talking costume based on a TV show, maybe Sesame Street or something, which turns out to be evil and tries to prevent the gang from leaving the closet before the party ends.

The costume could be a monster of some sort and maybe one that has been left there because it is no longer in mint condition and cannot be worn because the child who used to wear it is now too big. This may be the catalyst behind that costume turning evil.

A third option would involve Bonnie attending the same costume party as another child who is wearing either a Woody costume or a Buzz Lightyear costume.

Maybe the conflict within this storyline could be the real and fake Woody or Buzz, depending on which costume is worn, trying to prove that they are really the toy and not just the costume.

I would think the ending of this film might be that the toys are finally forced to reveal themselves as being able to speak while the costume has an on-and-off function to prove that they are the real toy.

It would result in a sacrifice having to be made to ensure that the toy gets home safely with Bonnie. This could even be a proper end to the franchise. Maybe Bonnie finds out that the toys are alive.

The point is that there was no reason for this movie to be just an animated short, especially since the movies were so good.

I really don’t know why they did this, but unfortunately, it will result in a drop in the final score of this movie, if that’s what I can refer to this as.

To put this into perspective, the movie was so short that I spent almost double the amount of time writing the review than I did actually watching it.

Even though this makes little to no sense, it will not fail because I am a fan of the Toy Story characters.

This movie should be recommended to anyone who barely has enough time to watch anything because of their busy schedule, but maybe also to those with a short attention span.

This movie, to me, was pretty much blink and you’ll miss it, but it was still good.

This horror movie follows Winnie-the-Pooh as he returns along with Tigger, Owl and Piglet to exact revenge on Christopher Robin for his supposed betrayal of them when he became an adult.

I’m going to do my best to provide an opinion on this movie despite it completely failing as far as I’m concerned for various reasons.

First of all, I don’t understand why Tigger and the rest of the gang didn’t appear in the first film to begin with.

I thought the point of this whole franchise was for the entire gang to exact their revenge on Christopher Robin, when only Pooh and Piglet appeared in the first film. This doesn’t make any sense to me.

This is another one of those movies that moves away from the central storyline halfway through, which led me to forget what it was supposed to be about.

Halfway through this movie, the plot changes to something entirely different from what this movie was supposed to be about.

Pooh, Piglet, Tigger and Owl aren’t shown on screen for about half the movie. It became more about Christopher Robin confronting his childhood trauma and trying to move on with his life.

At this point, I didn’t understand what this had to do with Winnie and the rest of them. It wasn’t until Owl made an appearance that I realized the movie should be about the characters from the Hundred Acre Wood and not just Christopher Robin.

One of the reasons I chose to see this movie was my admiration for Tigger. I had realized he was absent from the first film, and I was curious to see what he would look like as a horror villain.

I Googled what Tigger and Owl would look like in this film, and it turns out that they look nothing like their characters from the actual franchise.

First of all, Tigger isn’t orange and he doesn’t look like a tiger. Piglet is only really shown at the beginning of this film. I think he is killed early on because he isn’t shown for a good chunk of the film.

I was expecting most of the characters to at least resemble the ones from the cartoon, with Tigger, for example, being a ferocious tiger and Piglet actually being a pig.

This movie failed to deliver on what was expected from my point of view, and this will result in a significant drop in this movie’s final score.

Though this movie presents a lot of faults, if I had to choose one thing I admire about this movie, it would be the English accents that almost all of the human characters have.

I’ve always been a fan of that type of accent. Particularly, I enjoyed listening to Christopher Robin’s girlfriend speak.

Actually, if I had a girlfriend, I would want her to have that same accent. However, she does not appear that much throughout the film, and when she does, she is only seen once with him on screen.

Therefore, it’s not believable that they’re a couple.

Having said that, the English accents portrayed in this film are something I will give it credit for, as they reminded me of how I would want my girlfriend to speak if I had one.

At the same time, though, I could not understand what most of them were saying, and I think this was ironically due to every one of them having the same accent.

This made it hard to follow the story, and it makes it even harder to come up with an opinion on it. Even the only good point about this film had its faults.

If I had to pick another good point about this movie, I will say that the actress playing Christopher Robin’s girlfriend gave one of the more memorable performances.

Unfortunately, the tiny bit of praise I give to this movie is nowhere near enough to save it from a failing score.

I really did not enjoy this movie, if I’m being honest. I still admire Tigger as one of my favourite cartoon characters, but I will also never admire this movie.

I definitely could have found something better to watch other than this movie.

Content advisoryNot recommended for young children. Scenes of harassment and breaking and entering, some crude humour, scenes of arson, scenes with discussions of death, some scenes discussing mild medical issues, coarse language throughout, including some spoken dialogue meant for adults being used by children, sexual content, scenes of child endangerment, scenes that discuss possible harm inflicted on children, mild scenes of violence towards children and mature themes throughout.

This movie follows an elderly man who is consistently annoyed by the antics of his five-year-old neighbour, which causes him to feel resentment toward the child. This is made worse when he is tasked with babysitting him while his parents are out of town for work and nobody else wants to watch him. Despite his continued annoyance toward the child, he soon has a change of heart after the young boy is kidnapped while in his care and rushes to rescue him before it is too late.

I have to admit that I sometimes have a hard time picking up on the plot of any movie I watch until about halfway through or even near the end.

This movie is completely different, though. The cause of the main issue throughout this movie is so obvious that even a child can point it out.

I think a lot of the issues in this movie stem from the poor parenting skills of the people who live on that kid’s street.

Clearly, nobody ever taught him basic rules.

He was obviously never taught that it’s not okay to invade the home of your neighbour without permission and play pranks on him when he’s trying to sleep, or allow half of the children in the neighbourhood to play a game of hide-and-seek outside after dark.

While I don’t condone the response of the elderly man throughout this film, he is understandably justified in his annoyance toward the kid’s actions.

What makes this worse is that the child never really gets reprimanded to a reasonable extent for his actions.

I know that some people may say, “He’s just a kid.” However, nobody seems to realize that taking it easy on him by giving him punishments that are less severe than the crimes committed would dictate isn’t teaching him anything.

He is just going to learn that it’s okay to continue what he’s doing, and soon enough he may end up getting into trouble if the wrong person crosses paths with him and he tries those things on them.

Another thing I couldn’t get over is the type of dialogue some of the children used throughout this film.

They were discussing matters that should only apply to adults, such as marriage, owning a house and even intimacy, with little explanation from adults that those types of topics should only be brought up by them.

This is something I could not accept throughout this film.

Basically, all the parents in this movie just allow their kids to get away with whatever they want without consequences, and this really got on my nerves as I watched this film.

In my opinion, none of the parents in this movie would ever be a suitable candidate for Parent of the Year.

With all this being said, though, I will admit that this movie was really entertaining, especially with each prank the kid played.

Despite certain parts of it causing me annoyance, I really did enjoy this movie, and it definitely should be recommended to any family that is looking to watch a movie with their kids.

This was a great movie!

This horror thriller follows an evil unnamed clown who does not speak as he terrorizes multiple people within a town, leaving a trail of dead bodies and blood in his wake.

I have to be honest in saying that the horror genre of movies is not my preferred genre.

I would generally prefer to watch the latest romantic comedies and regular comedies. Having said that, I really enjoyed this movie.

Up until this point, I have really expanded my preferences as they relate to what sort of movies I enjoy.

I generally enjoy movies like this one, where an evil person or entity of some kind, in this case I think it was an entity, kills random people and usually gets away with it until the very end, when it gets its comeuppance in most cases.

There have been a few movies I’ve watched that fit this description where the killer ends up not dying or getting arrested and gets away with all the people it has killed.

Those movies usually leave a sour taste in my mouth, as it is my belief that every good story needs an end and that no villain should ever get away with killing people completely.

It is my belief that there should be at least one person or group of people who is able to bring the killer to justice despite the chaos that the killer has caused throughout the film.

This is not always the case.

Despite this, this movie is a complete pass, as I enjoyed the violence throughout the film and hanging on the edge of my seat wondering how or if the killer would be brought to justice by the end of the film.

While this movie is probably not the greatest to watch if you have coulrophobia, I find that it was a great one to kick off the Halloween section of my movie reviews.

This movie has just the right amount of violence and gore to fit the season.

Generally speaking, I thought I would have a much harder time finding a movie to watch that was associated with Halloween because I believe that there aren’t as many good Halloween movies as there are good Christmas movies.

The fact is that the holidays are upon us, and actually, at the time of this writing, I have my Christmas tree up.

This should show everyone how committed I am to being festive around the holidays, as I have my tree up in the month leading up to Halloween.

Once I got it up, I realized that I could not settle on watching any normal movie tonight. It had to be one associated with the holidays.

I actually have quite a few more Halloween movies to review in the coming days.

I find that this movie really set the stage for what should be a great few months of holiday-themed reviews!

If you’re a fan of bloody violence and overall terror, this movie is definitely recommended!

Prior to beginning this review, I wanted to let everyone know that I have decided to change the format of how I do my reviews slightly going forward.

This is being done as I aspire to create books out of all my reviews. I aspire to have them published, thus solidifying myself as an author of books containing reviews of the latest blockbusters.

The review will be written like any previous one, with my personal opinion of it as well as a brief description of the movie in question, but it will end with a personal author’s message from me.

This will explain how the movie is relatable to me in real life and whether or not I would recommend it to any of my close family members.

This will be based on the quality of the movie in question, as well as whether it details a situation that is presently occurring in real life to one of my family members.

Also, each review will end with me signing my pen name at the bottom after the review ends.

It will be signed as Jefferson Bert, which is my personal pen name and was given to me after I made my intentions known to become an author prior to initially starting my movie reviews.

The title of each movie in question going forward will feature the name of the movie, the platform or theatre where it was seen and the year of the movie’s release. It will be followed by “By Jefferson Bert.”

At some point, my previous reviews will be edited to reflect this change.

Content advisoryNot recommended for young children. Violence, gory scenes, coarse language, scenes depicting explosives and arson, emotional implications throughout, some medical images and dialogue, minor romantic implications and partial scenes depicting foreign dialogue.

This movie follows a runner who is tasked with transporting items from one place to another. He is given an assignment to transport a liver to a child who requires a transplant for her survival, only to encounter a vicious gang that also requires the liver for themselves. He must fight tooth and nail to get the liver to the child while evading attacks from the gang before time runs out. This situation clearly presents a life-or-death scenario where time really is of the essence.

Despite this movie’s somber and emotional storyline, I feel like it was really quite good.

I enjoyed the violence and the action sequences. I find that this movie is the perfect mix of action and drama, with a tiny bit of comedy mixed in.

This comedy comes primarily from Owen Wilson’s character, as he appears oblivious at certain points to the danger that he and the main character are in.

This movie had some humorous moments one minute and then some heartbreaking moments the next.

I also give two thumbs up to Alan Ritchson’s character in this movie, as he provided the great action sequences in a movie that would otherwise have been too emotional to watch.

Another good point I want to make is that he really showed how far he is willing to go to help someone in need.

Throughout this movie, he is in a fight with thugs and even police in the name of saving a child who would not have a chance otherwise.

This movie was great in its portrayal of the lack of selfishness on his part, as well as having the desire to do whatever it takes to ensure that the child gets the help she needs.

Having said that, this movie is not without its questionable points.

First of all, I didn’t much care for this movie’s main plot, as it appeared as though a game of hot potato was being played with something that can save a life.

It basically depicted a scenario where someone is going to live and someone is going to die, as there was only one liver and two groups of people who needed it.

To make matters worse, one of the two people was a small child.

In my mind, this movie went a little too far in trying to find something that needed to be delivered to the right person at the right time because a child’s life is at stake for most of this movie.

Also, I have to disagree with the setting that was used for the fight scenes toward the end of the movie.

As a person who already doesn’t like hospitals on a personal level, at least I can say that anyone who gets admitted into one for whatever reason is in good hands, as they are generally in the care of people who can help them.

However, without saying too much more, as I do not want to ruin the movie for those who haven’t seen it yet but want to see it, I will say that the hospital is prominently featured toward the end of the movie.

In my mind, this setting is used much more than it needs to be.

Despite this movie’s questionable points, I can’t overlook the fact that it’s a great movie.

This is one that I would definitely recommend for people who can’t decide whether to watch a tearjerker or a full-on fight to the bitter end.

It is for people who can’t decide whether to hold a box of Kleenex or cheer at the sight of blood and broken bones.

This movie provides the perfect mixed bag for any desired emotion to be shown.

It can be very painful and also very sad, but one thing is for sure: it was really good and will definitely receive a passing score!

Jeff-O-Meter final score: 10/10

Author’s message

While Owen Wilson provided some much-needed comic relief to a story that would otherwise be labelled a tearjerker, it is not one that I would recommend to those closest to me.

This is due to its portrayal of cancer and the threat of succumbing to it.

The topic of cancer is one that has been felt by certain members of my family in the last couple of years, as well as right now, as there is a member of my family currently fighting it at the time of this writing.

My overall belief is that the people who are closest to my family member who is battling this would not be able to hold in their emotions if they were to view this film.

Also, this is something that my mother suffered from years ago and thankfully survived, but she is still feeling the effects of that period in her life to this day.

As I have a great relationship with my mother and emotionally suffered myself as she was dealing with the illness, it is not one that I believe should be viewed by anybody closest to me, despite the positive overall review I gave it.

I do find that it is just too emotional for anybody in my family to handle.

Content advisoryNot recommended for young children. This action thriller follows an unexplained occurrence in a town that forces parents to turn violent against their children for no apparent reason for 24 hours.

When this movie was first released, I had only heard about it. I had never seen the trailer, and up until just recently, I had no desire to watch it.

Having said that, it did fit the description of what I believe to be my preferred movie genre.

There was enough violence, coarse language and mature content for the movie to fit the type of thriller I would normally choose to watch.

I know that they technically say that there’s no apparent reason for the violence from parents toward their kids, but as far as I’m concerned, it should have just been a marketing thing because it appears to be very clear what drove the parents to turn against their kids.

This is coming from a guy who fails to pick up on the central plot of most movies until the end.

However, right from the beginning of this film, children and especially teenagers are seen disobeying their parents’ requests, despite them being very common requests, such as not fighting over toys and being home at a certain time.

In the end, every parent has their breaking point when they’ve repeated the same requests over and over again, only to find themselves having roughly the same argument with their kids.

I’ve actually had this same experience with my own mother, even at my current age.

I’ve come to the realization that even parents can only take so much, and once they’ve exceeded how much they can handle, they lose their patience and snap.

Having said that, I don’t know if most parents would get mad enough to do some of the things the parents in this movie were doing.

However, this is what made this movie so entertaining. You just knew that the parent could snap at any moment, and I’m sure everybody wanted to see what was going to happen.

I believe this is what they call an edge-of-your-seat thriller.

As good as this movie was, it did have its moments that I don’t agree with.

The scene in question occurs when a newborn baby is violently attacked as soon as it is born.

I believe they went too far with their inclusion of this scene, as the baby couldn’t defend itself.

This is something that I could drop the final score for, but I won’t do that, as the rest of this movie was great!

This is a must-watch for any person who is a fan of thriller movies!

Content advisorySuitable for all ages. Scenes depicting depression, mild scenes of bullying and brief scenes of animal cruelty.

This holiday short follows Charlie Brown as he tries to overcome his lack of holiday spirit despite feeling sad during the Christmas season.

I don’t have much to say in regard to this film.

While I will admit that Charlie Brown is old school, I never really cared for this franchise, even as a child.

I felt like this movie would put me in the holiday spirit, which is usually what happens to me around this time of year.

I believe Charlie Brown has a lot of the same problems as I have around Christmas.

He is shown to not be sure of how to celebrate, and this makes him upset.

The beginning of this film is very sad and almost made me cry.

Due to this somber storyline, I will not be able to give this movie a passing grade.

However, I will say that there are a couple of aspects of this film that will prevent me from giving it a failing grade.

First of all, I have always been a fan of Snoopy.

I never really cared for most of the human characters in this franchise, and I have also always wondered why only the children in this film have any discernible dialogue while the adults are blocked out by the sound of “WAWAWA!”

I don’t know how to pronounce this, but that is the sound heard whenever any adults speak. I never understood why that occurs.

Another thing I will give this movie credit for is the fact that one of the characters is named Lucy, which is my mother’s name.

As I have a great relationship with my mother, any movie, or in this case an animated short, that has a character by that name will automatically save it from a complete failing grade, even if the rest of the film was a complete flop.

When I combine this fact with the fact that Mom loves Snoopy, it is enough for it to get pretty close to a passing grade.

Unfortunately, it will not quite make it to that level due to the emotion I felt in the first five minutes of this movie.

This was good enough to pass as a classic, but one that definitely could have been better.

Jeff-O-Meter final score: 7/10

Author’s message

This film will be the first of many holiday movies I will review this holiday season.

I will be starting my Halloween reviews as the month of October and Halloween draw nearer.

This movie has the distinction of being the oldest movie I’ve reviewed so far, as it was released in 1965.

I chose this movie due to my mother’s admiration for the character of Snoopy. I knew she would enjoy reading a review on this.

I find this movie hard to watch at times due to its somewhat emotional nature and its portrayal of mental health issues such as depression and loneliness.

I would say that there is a personal connection between Charlie Brown and myself in this film, as I have sometimes felt depressed as the holidays have come around.

However, I have always found myself enjoying the holiday in the end.

Also, it has been a while since I have been able to watch a holiday short. This was something that I did as a child.

I remember watching classics such as Frosty the Snowman and Frosty Returns. Now I can add this one to the list.

This movie serves as a little bit of nostalgia for me!

This is what makes it so good despite its few shortcomings.

Meanwhile, Chuckie Finster seeks to find himself a new mother during the trip in a sequel to the first Rugrats movie which is also based on the Nickelodeon cartoon.

This is one of those movies that I picked to watch because I thought it would be easy to review. I was 10 years old when this movie first came out in the year 2000 and I loved it. Having said that, this is another movie from my childhood that hits much differently for me than when I was a child. First of all, this movie is a children's movie. Therefore, there should be content geared towards children within it. I was shocked at how inappropriate some of the material in this movie was. There's a whole bunch of nudity and marriage discussions and even some mild sexual dialogue. However, this isn't even the worst part. The movie hits me right where it hurts in terms of Chuckie's situation. At first, I was sympathetic to his situation as it appears he wants a mother. About halfway through the movie, I realized that he is the one without a mother. Therefore, I cannot sympathize with his situation. Also, towards the middle of the movie, it is continuously brought up that he wants to replace his mother that's in heaven. I know this is a cartoon but I simply cannot accept that as I would never want to replace my mother and I also dread the day that her time comes. This movie nearly succeeds in making me become emotional until I realize that it's not happening to me and at certain points, (particularly during most of the musical numbers,) I nearly cried my eyes out as I began to believe that I was living in Chuckie's situation. Having no mother but wishing he could and worst of all, having to listen to his father as his primary caregiver. I mean, I'm not completely heartless. I know that there are some people who don't have as good of a relationship as I have with mom. Also I know that some people have their father as their primary caregiver for one reason or another. However, I cannot stand to see it in movies as I would never in my life think to put my own father who I can't stand over my mother who means the world to me. Also, try as I may, I will never be able to handle it when my mother's time comes. The biggest problem with this movie is that it makes me sad while presenting a situation that I'm afraid of occurring in my life. For a while as I was watching this movie, I felt like I was in it and that Chuckie's situation actually applied to me. I know this sounds ridiculous but its true. It broke me heart to watch this movie. It just hits too close to home for me.

This is also the first movie I've reviewed that includes a significant amount of dialogue in another language. Some of the dialogue is in French, and I found portions harder to follow when the translation or context was not immediately clear to me. This affected my personal viewing experience, although it is not a criticism of the French language itself.

Unfortunately, I could not find enough good points within this movie to save it from a failing score despite my best efforts to do so. The negative emotions I felt as I watched this movie were just too much to ignore. I thought about it as much as I could and I was even going to factor in the old cliche that "it reminds me of when I was that age." By the end of this film though, the grief I felt from watching this movie overshadowed any positive points and I had to regrettably settle on a failing score. I simply cannot get over how sad this movie makes me. It presents a situation that I never want to find myself in. The fact is that I cannot imagine a life without my mother. Well, this movie was basically a bad dream for me that I was awake to experience. Some people may have a different opinion of it which they are entitled to. I've said before that not everybody has to like what I write as my opinion but I have to be honest. I did not like this movie. It was too much for me to handle. All I can say is that I hope my next review is better.

Trouble ensues when she is secretly invited by one of the three women who feels bad for her as she did not receive an invitation as it's not long before the once relaxing getaway turns chaotic and puts the entire trip in jeopardy once she arrives.

Initially I had learned a lot about this movie just from watching the trailer. I knew its premise was something along the line of women who need a break from something, (I assumed this would have been husbands and/or children,) which initially prompted the getaway where the women would have been turned on by some of the male masseuses leading to them having an affair. This seemed like the obvious storyline for this type of movie. To a point, I was kind of right as a couple of the women had kids that they needed a break from. However, this was not the entire premise of the movie as it turns out that the villain could have been one of the four women and that she would have been the villain unintentionally and unwillingly. This is what actually happened in this movie. Once this was established, the rest of the movie was very predictable as I knew that it would be the woman's crazy and wild antics that eventually would stop their getaway. As expected, this would have led to the women getting mad at her and blaming her for ruining their getaway after they are kicked out. However, something else I saw a mile away was that the woman in the movie wasn't as rich as she tried prove herself to be and that she was only doing it to fit in out of insecurity and a desire for acceptance. This is a common trope in most movies I've seen but I've also seen this happen to people around me in real life. Those who want to be accepted and not ridiculed despite knowing that aren't as financially or socially secure as those around them will put on an act and pretend to be rich and better than everybody else to hide the fact that they are in desperate need of help themselves. I see this type of thing all the time so therefore, the storyline was very predictable for this movie. Now normally if a movie's premise is predictable, it will result in the final score of that movie being a failure as it is deemed a waste of time to watch. Having said that, I admired the antics of the woman in this movie and she is actually one of my favorite characters. I also admire her English accent.

Another thing I admire is the casting of an actress from when I was a child. I'm now 36 years old at the time of writing this and I feel like the 90's actors and actresses who were commonly cast when I was a kid have stopped being cast, (for obvious reasons as they are likely retired.) However, every so often, one of them might come up and this was the case for this movie. I appreciated that the woman from "George Of The Jungle" was cast in this movie. In fact, she was what inspired me to see this movie.

Despite this movie being predictable, there's too many good points for it to fail. Therefore, I highly recommend this movie!

not recommended for young children; Sexuality, sexual content, nudity, scenes depicting property damage, some scenes with tobacco and drug use, coarse language, scenes depicting law enforcement, scene depicting incarceration, some crude humor, some alcoholism, a brief crude sexual joke involving goats

It's not long for chaos to ensue following her departure due to her husband's lack of parental skills and overall understanding of the household duties.

On a personal level, I was really looking forward to seeing this movie. I love movies that depict family-like situations. This movie plays on the classic trope of mom taking over the responsibilities at home while dad earns the pay cheque for the expenses. In a way, this is how we grew up. We really only had one central parent while the other was pretty much absent from our lives, hence he was unsure of our daily schedules and what to do with us, ETC. There is a big difference between this movie and our personal situation though and this is that the father in this movie really does mean well and cares about his daughters. He might have had some missteps along the way but this just added to this movie's good points. It was somewhat predictable just by seeing the trailer. I knew it would be something along the lines of the father being put in charge of taking care of the house and the kids while his wife was away for work ETC. These types of movies are very predictable as something usually ends up happening by the time the wife returns to prove her earlier point that the husband shouldn't be left alone despite his point that it is no problem. Of course, he finds the household responsibilities to be too much only for him to realize that his wife was right all along and that he was basically in over his head. I've actually seen a lot of movies like this so I was waiting to see what would happen in this movie's case. Sure enough, something does happen, (I will not say what happens so I don't ruin it for those who have not seen the movie.) Despite its overall predictability, this movie was a great one to watch and was very entertaining from start to finish. I saw this movie when it was released it theatres. It was so good that I wondered if I could ever go back and see it despite how much it would cost. Being able to rent it and enjoy it again afforded me that luxury. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this movie. It's very well done and should be recommended to everyone!

This is a movie I've seen so many times before that I actually think it was a waste for me to rent. Also, I remember initially doing a review for this movie during my first run of movie reviews. Therefore, I don't have much to say in regards to this movie. I actually regretted renting this movie only after I rented it since there were so many others for which I have not done a review to this point. The problem was that I was so tired last night that I picked this one initially because the review had already been done for it. Having said that, I scraped every last word I could muster up out of the need to review every single movie, no matter how many times I have seen it. I realized that I made a commitment to reviewing every single movie. With that being said, this is the second movie that I've done two reviews for, (the first movie was "Buddy,") but I suppose it just goes to show how great John Candy was. His movies are so good that some of them are deserving of more than one review. Also, I want to try to give each of my favorite actors their own section on the site where their movies are reviewed. John Candy is one of those actors and this is one of those movies. Therefore, despite the waste, it wasn't so bad after all. It was good enough for me to say I watched a movie and did a review where I wouldn't have done one otherwise since I was so tired. Not much has changed in terms of my opinion on this movie from the first one until now. This includes the final score of this movie. It was just an all-around good movie.

Despite the mailman's intense dislike for dogs, he reluctantly allows the child to keep him in order to potentially win over his mother's affections.

I can honestly say that just based off the fact that this movie is about an animal, it definitely had some good points. I'm a big fan of movies that incorporate animals in the main plot. More specifically, I'm a huge fan of dogs. I love being around them as they remind me of when I was a child. As a matter of fact, any movie where an animal is the main premise is one that will never fail. Having said that, there's something that I'm really getting tired of seeing. As much as I love movies about animals, in most of these movies, those animals are in danger of being physically harmed by someone. I understand that it's just a movie and maybe that should be the motivation that the human character has for wanting to save it, (having possibly grown attached to it earlier in the film,) but it's happening too much in the movies I've watched recently. It is getting to the point where my reviews on movies where animals are present are getting repetitive. Every one I've reviewed so far has had scenes of potential animal cruelty regardless of how the rest of the movie was. What makes it worse in this case is that a dog is one of my favorite animals and should not be subjected to that kind of treatment whether it's a movie or not. The constant repetitiveness of this will result in a drop in this movie's final score. There were scenes in this movie that almost caused me to get emotional and I never get emotional when watching a movie. I would love to have a dog and I would never let any dog of mine even come close to getting harmed, even if the script called for it. I think of a dog in the same way I think of my mother. I wouldn't want anything to happen to her and I also wouldn't want anything to happen to any dog of mine. I don't see dogs as just animals or even pets. I see them as members of my family and treat them as such. For this reason, when I see one potentially getting harmed, (even if it's just a movie, it makes me angry. Though this movie was really good otherwise, the scenes in which the dog could have gotten hurt were too much for me. Therefore, this movie will not fail but it definitely could have been better.

For the description of the movie, please refer to my original review of the movie while disregarding my original opinion of it which is featured in the original review.

I recently saw the 2026 horror movie titled " Buddy." As I am generally a fan of certain horror movies, I was initially looking forward to seeing this movie. The first time I went to see it, I could not stay for the entire duration of the movie so I did not see what happened past the 15 minute mark. With that, I went ahead and did a review based on the parts of this movie that I saw and it appeared to me that the main character Buddy, (who was depicted as an anthropomorphic talking orange unicorn,) wasn't as bad as he turned out to be. It appeared to me that he was just teaching the children featured in this movie life lessons with him turning evil anytime one of the children disobeys him. In a way, it presented itself as a way to teach children that when they don't follow instructions or do as they're told, there would be consequences. The consequences in this film would be much more heinous as this would trigger his negative emotions which in turn would have caused him to turn against the kids. This was what I was able to gather through the 15 minutes of this film I originally watched. Buddy appeared as if he would always be cheerful unless the children didn't listen to him. This is why I initially rated this movie with a perfect score in my original review while mistakenly making Buddy look like the victim having to deal with children that are unruly. With all this in mind, I want to tell everybody a little story of how I crossed paths once again with a mascot who I even sarcastically deemed worthy of being my best friend and even my roommate in my original review. I want to share how I went in the theatre and watched the movie again only to drastically change my review before I even left the theatre. I never knew that a 90 minute period could change my mind so decisively but it did. The problem was that for those who had read my original review, I felt like I was misleading them. I knew I had to come clean and make things right. Those who have indeed read my review to this point can disregard it and replace it with the opinion I'm going write at this moment. I do apologize for offending anyone or misleading them in anyway.

Initially I had felt bad for not seeing the Buddy movie after wanting to see it for so many months before it's release. I was set to see another movie today but in my mind I had my heart set on seeing Buddy as I was curious as to how the movie ended. Since I initially got a refund the first time I went, it was then deemed a possibility which got much worse as the day progressed. I turned on my tv this morning and there was a news story about parents who had brought their children to see the movie as they thought it was a kid's movie. A number of them complained and demanded a refund, almost blaming the theatre themselves for showing the movie. This only served to spike my curiosity as I wondered how bad it could have been if it appeared to me that it was just a kid's movie with a somewhat dark premise.

Arriving at the theatre, I found that the movie I was going to see was completely sold out. With my desire to find out how "Buddy" ended now at it's highest level, I gave in and went to see it again. A recurring theme in my life is me not seeing the big picture and not understanding the reality of certain situations. Also, I have a hard time putting myself in other people's shoes and changing my opinion on certain things without proof that I was wrong and the other person was right, ETC. Often times when this happens, I will feel somewhat stupid and even apologetic for not listening to them initially. Little did I know that by the end of this movie, Buddy had gone from hero to zero in my book and that everybody was right in their assumption to complain about a movie and demand their money back. The part of the movie I did not see was what made all the difference. Buddy accomplished something that no horror movie had done to me since I was a kid. I'm currently 36 years old as I write this. I love horror movies and for the most part, I know they are just that, movies. However, Buddy was so dark and sinister that he got into my head and I was made to believe that it was real. I found out that there is definitely a time gap between when a person exits the theatre after seeing that movie and when that person reenters reality after finally coming to terms with the fact that it's just a movie. I generally felt afraid watching this movie. I found myself shaking out of fear and believing that Buddy had caused certain things to happen in reality that were initially to my discredit. As I left the theatre in a hurry to use the washroom, I could not shake the image of that freak from my head. As I was waiting for my bus, I thought that people entering and exiting the theatre was him and when my bus ended up being a few minutes late, (as they are most of the time,) I thought he was tampering with the bus service. I know this sounds ridiculous but I actually genuinely felt like I had been reverting back to my childlike state of mind as I was afraid of something I saw in a movie. However, if this can happen to an adult who is generally a fan of these types of movies, you should be expecting any child to act much worse than I did after seeing this movie. They would likely have nightmares if they saw it so for those who might be planning your next movie trip, DO NOT SEE THIS MOVIE! It doesn't matter if Buddy is portrayed as a children's character through the trailer or the movie poster. You will find once you get to the theatre that he's a monster and he should not be viewed as a child friendly character at all. I dare say that it is not worth the money to see this. I cannot believe they put this piece of garbage in theatres. I don't even know what the target demographic is. Clearly, it's not children. So I urge anybody with children who is planning their next movie outing to avoid this movie at all costs. By doing this, you'll be doing yourself and your children a favor. If you are looking for another movie you and your kids might enjoy, I recently saw the new movie "Coyote Vs. Acme" which is the basic Looney Tunes story and is suitable for all. In this movie, everything is exactly as described. There are no violent undertones or anything like that. Anyone who has ever seen the Looney Tunes or is a fan of it will enjoy this movie. The attack leaves the monkey unhinged as he departs from his usual friendly and loving demeanor and goes bananas on those closest to him after escaping his enclosure while his owner is away on a work trip to attack the owner's daughter and her friends who are staying at his home during his absence.

This was a movie that I was really looking forward to seeing when it was released in theatres earlier this year. I had expanded my preferred genre of movies to include horror films where I used to only be interested in rom coms. I couldn't wait to see what this monkey had in store for its victims after seeing the trailer. I really enjoyed seeing this movie in a theatre initially as the surround sound speakers fit this genre to perfection. Every time the monkey let out a growl, I knew someone was about to get what was coming to them. It was an experience I really enjoyed and it was well worth the money spent to see it.

Now I chose this movie based on its runtime. I wanted to see it again on my tv in order to review it but not necessarily tonight. It was picked from a list of three or four possible selections because it was the shortest movie of all the potential movies I could have watched. I was really excited to see this again to be able to review it. On the surface, I could have given it a solid perfect score but I couldn't remember how it ended. This is another reason why I chose to watch this movie. Anyway, of course I will continue to give credit where it is due as the monkey showed no signs of remorse to any of it's victims once again. It seemed like a foregone conclusion that it would pass no matter what. The problem was that I fell asleep halfway through and missed the ending. When I woke up, I noticed that something else was already playing on the tv. For this reason, I had to really consider the final score for this movie despite it being pretty much guaranteed at one point to pass completely. At one point I even considered failing it just because I could not recall how the movie ended therefore making it a waste of a purchase. This is why it took me so long to start my review. I had to consider my decision to be able to make a proper final score. It seemed like a pass but at the same time, I felt I could not do that without actually remembering how the movie ended. At the very last minute, I realized that the action sequences as well as the violence throughout should count for something despite me missing the ending of the movie this time around. After thinking about it, I do remember how the movie ended and it was good enough. I will not discuss this as I do not want to ruin the ending for those who haven't seen this movie yet but I will say that it's worth the money and the time to watch it if you're a fan of this particular genre. Something else for me to consider when making my final decision was my opinion on the monkey himself. He may have been bad but I feel as though we all have our good days and bad days. Despite his attempts at harming people throughout this movie, he was cute enough to boost the score of this movie no matter what. I think I'm developing a fondness for these types of movies. Ones that incorporate animals in the main plot. It seems like any movie with an animal as the main focus boosts the rating of the movie even if parts of it were no good. This was the case for the movie "Monkey Trouble," where I felt the need to boost the rating of the movie despite me not agreeing with some parts of it. I think I'm becoming an animal lover through my love for movies. This was the case once again for this movie, (with the animal being another monkey coincidentally.) His presence was enough to boost the rating once again. Maybe I should adopt my own pet monkey. I'm sure it would make a great addition to the family! So to end this review, I will say that it definitely deserves to be among the best ones I've seen recently and it should be recommended!

I've developed a habit recently of watching movies that initially hit different the first time they came out in theatres. I think this is the third movie in a row that this has happened. This is another movie I saw in theatres for the first time where my initial reaction was different when I saw it back then vs. when I have seen it more recently. The first time I saw this, I'll admit it was a little creepy to have a middle-aged woman invite a bunch of kids to party in her basement randomly. However, despite the opinion of other people, I did not see anything wrong with what she was initially doing and thought she was just being nice. I must have had to grow up a lot since then because after watching this movie again recently, it has become one that is very questionable to me. I realize now that what the woman in this movie wanted to do was wrong. I mean, what kind of middle aged woman would allow a group of underage teenagers into her house without their parents knowledge just because she is lonely? Does she not realize how that would be perceived if the right person found out? She had been committing a crime the whole movie and of course, nobody called her out on it until the very end. With the exception of a few scenes, the ending of this movie is way too predictable. Of course, everybody finds out in the end but what I don't understand is how she managed to get away with it without ending up in jail. There were so many scenes throughout this movie that pretty much guaranteed her fate. I don't believe she has any redeeming quality at all. She was just a woman that everybody wished would get her comeuppance. She had been playing with fire the whole movie to the point where I wished at certain points that she would have got what was coming to her. For this reason, it's pretty clear that not only is this movie not a good one, it should serve as a reminder for what should happen if anybody tries this in the real world. Maybe it's just because it's a movie and that's probably why she really dealt with no repercussions. So it would appear that with everything I've said so far, this movie should fail. However, some of the performances and suspenseful moments were strong enough to keep it from receiving a complete failure. Having said that, I simply cannot forgive the criminal actions of this woman throughout this movie. Therefore, this movie will not pass either. I hope the next one I review is better.

As time goes on, she begins to retract her original feelings towards her son's new bride and plots to end the relationship at any cost after the pair reveal their plans to get married and announce that they are having a baby.

This was another movie I had a hard time formulating a review for. I had a long day yesterday and I may have underestimated how tired I was from the day's events as I fell asleep about 15 minutes into this movie only to awaken halfway through having lost my general perception of what this movie was about. Even though this is the first time I saw this movie, I had previously heard about it's premise and this helped a little bit in being able to formulate a review despite a big chunk of the movie being missed. On the surface, I could have easily just rated the movie as a fail since I barely saw any of it. As always, I'm nothing but fair in my reviews and if there's a way to boost a movie's rating despite it not being good or missing some parts of it, I will find it. This is the case for this movie. I didn't really understand the main plot of it even when I was awake. It was something along the lines of the woman secretly not accepting the son's new bride as it appeared that she was developing empty nest syndrome. From the dialogue in the movie, it appeared that she would make her true feelings show and be revealed as the movie's villain while both her son and the bride were oblivious of this until the very end. Despite this, as I failed to see the entire movie and didn't completely understand its premise, it still would have failed miserably. However, the opening portion of this movie did manage to hold my attention. The performances, romantic tension and dramatic atmosphere gave the movie enough good points to prevent it from failing. Even though I missed part of the movie and did not completely understand every aspect of the plot, what I saw was entertaining enough for me to enjoy it. I recognize that this makes the review more difficult because I normally want to understand the entire story before giving a final score. Still, based on the portions I watched, I can honestly say that the movie worked for me. The cast and dramatic tension were enough to maintain my interest, even when I was unsure of where the story was heading. This movie is a must watch for any romance enthusiast!

I don't really have much to say about this movie. It's one of those films that doesn't have a lot of faults so therefore, I really don't have an opinion of this movie. If I had to say anything at all, it would be that the chipmunks remind me of the same way I think of cats. I love it when mom's cat cuddles with me. The only fault I can really find for this movie is its predictability. I was able to figure out who ended up being the villain about ten minutes into this movie. That's pretty much all I have to say about this movie. I chose this movie out of the need to take a break from all of the horror movies I've been watching recently. It's been a while since I reviewed an actual kid's movie. I will say that the chipmunks are really cute in this movie. It was a nice change and I like the fact that it was easy to review. However, I will say that this movie is not a complete pass due to its predictability. Having said that, it was very well done. It could be admired by any age demographic. I really enjoyed this movie.

A young boy receives a talking Buddi doll programmed to show emotion and friendship as a birthday gift. At first the two become friends, but the boy soon discovers that the toy will go to terrifying extremes to ensure his happiness — including harming anyone it believes is standing in his way.

I've actually seen this movie quite a few times. I decided to watch this movie again when I couldn't get the jingle from within the movie out of my head. It got to a point where it bothered me but since I had not reviewed it yet, I figured it couldn't hurt to watch it again.

That jingle is 'You are my buddy, my only friend. Not just a buddy but my friend,' or something to that effect. I know it's very similar to that.

As far as my opinion towards this movie, it's great for anyone who loves horror movies including those who are fans of gory and bloody scenes, (I know I am.) This movie really had some good points. I appreciated the fact that it lived up to its promise in terms of being graphic and bloody in nature. The action and violence within this movie were well worth it not to mention the manner of how some of the murders were executed.

However, this is one of those movies where my overall opinion has changed drastically from the first time I saw it until now. When this movie was first released, there was nothing scary or bothersome about it. It was just another great movie to watch. One that I knew I would enjoy as I had grown into a fan of horror movies to an extent.

After watching this movie again though, it appears that some of the scenes are ones that I cannot handle anymore as they tend to get a little scare out of me. Also, despite watching this movie again to try and get that jingle out of my head, I'm still hearing it inside my head even as I write this.

I see the doll staring at me while singing that jingle and I'm not going to lie. I do feel a little uneasy. I mean I know it's just a movie and this is not to say that I'm as scared as any child should be. I'm just at a point in my life where I get scared easily by dolls that sing that jingle.

I've actually seen much worse and the more I think about it, it may be my age catching up to me. I'm in my mid 30's right now and maybe I'm slowly pulling away from being a fan of things that are aimed at the teenage demographic.

Having said that, I don't think I'm quite at the point where mom is yet. I can still handle the horror genre to a point where she has never been able to at least for as long as I can remember.

For what it's worth, I did enjoy most of this movie. There's just a couple of scenes I could have done without if I'm being honest. Of course, one of those scenes is any one which that jingle is played and I cannot get rid of the image of the doll itself.

Though this movie was really well done, unfortunately the scene I've been discussing throughout this review along with the look of the evil doll itself will result in a significant drop as it pertains to my final score of this movie.

It still won't completely fail but unless they redo this movie again and erase that jingle while changing the overall look of the doll, it won't completely pass either. To my knowledge, this cannot be done as you cannot change what millions of people have already seen but even if you could, I don't think I can ever get rid of that image in my head as well as that jingle so therefore my decision is final.

This movie will forever be a great movie but one that could have been better.

Jeff O meter final score: 8 out of 10

He is challenged by his brother with whom he had a rivalry growing up who assembles his own team to see who gets the honor of that title.

When it comes to this movie, I had mixed emotions. There were some aspects of it that I admired while others I could have done without. After initially viewing the trailer, I found that it definitely wouldn't be the first movie I would watch if given the chance. I have never really been that much of a sports guy though I figured this movie would resemble the movie "The Mighty Ducks." It basically follows the same premise with a different sport being played. Instead of hockey, it was football in this case. Everything else was the same in my eyes. Both movies featured sports teams with little experience getting clobbered at first and having to work their way up the ranks with help from their coach and others throughout the movie, ETC. To be honest, I really didn't like "The Mighty Ducks," as I simply don't care about sports. However, this movie is slightly different in the sense that there were actors in the movie that saved it from being a complete failure. Particularly I was a fan of Ed O Neill even though he was positioned as the villain of the movie. I was drawn to this movie by him being in it. A couple of years ago, I started watching the sitcom "Married With Children" and this was basically my introduction to him. It was nice to see him in a different role though I noticed that in certain scenes of this movie, he had dialogue that mirrored his character in the show even though this was very brief. Also, Rick Moranis was a good actor as well. I first saw him in the movie "Honey I Shrunk The Kids." I was drawn to this movie through his casting as well. To put it simple, the main cast of this movie brought back nostalgia for me and therefore, this was one of the movie's good points.

Having said that, I cannot ignore the chauvinistic comments and the gender sensitive bullying that occurred throughout this movie. I have always believed that no particular job should be just for men or women to do. Gender equality is something I truly believe should apply in every situation. There's nothing one gender can do better than the other. Maybe some jobs may be easier for one gender over the other but this doesn't mean that everybody can't try. I really don't think it's fair to believe that one gender can't succeed at a task that the other gender believes should only be done by them and can only be accomplished by them. I couldn't believe what I was seeing during those scenes and I couldn't figure out why they would allow that topic to be featured in a children's movie meant to impart the message that they can do anything.

This film also features bullying scenes which depict a girl being treated as if she is a boy. This is absolutely ridiculous for a girl to be treated like that. First of all, without giving away too much information for those who haven't seen this movie yet, she turned out to be better than any player on the team and kept them from losing by a considerable margin. To me, this proves that she is good enough to be on the team so the bullying related to her being a valuable player or not shouldn't exist.

Unfortunately, the bad points outweigh the good points in terms of this movie's final review. There's just too many of them to ignore and they're really bad ones if I'm being honest. They depict very serious topics. Ones that I personally would have gotten in trouble as a kid for saying to anybody, (that they're not good, that a girl looks like a boy,) ETC. Therefore, this is one of those movies that will be saved from complete failure by the presence of the main cast. It was very disappointing to me that certain scenes in this movie weren't removed. I'm hoping my next review will be better.

If I'm being completely honest, I have never really cared much for the Looney Tunes growing up. I was drawn to this movie by the appearance of a certain wrestler as I am a big Wrestling fan. However, I initially didn't even understand the concept of the movie. I knew it was about one side suing the other for physical distress over the years but I didn't know which one it was. This movie turned out to be one of my favorites. I enjoyed Wile E. Coyote enduring a whole bunch of hurdles in his pursuit towards justice and I really admired the character throughout this movie. He was so innocent and it seems as though he was tired of being a victim of the Acme corporation. Throughout this movie, I was won over by his courage to fight the system and to undo all the wrongs that he was subjected to over the years. All things considered, this movie is great for any age demographic but particularly the ones who may have grown up being a fan of Looney Tunes and those who might still be fans of the franchise to this day. This comedy film serves as a sequel to the 1990 comedy "Problem Child" where the 7-year-old troublemaker tries to prevent his father from falling in love again following his divorce. However, the new woman of his dreams may give the devil child a run for his money as she plots to have him sent to boarding school in order to secure his father for herself.

As a rule, normally movie sequels are never as good as the original. Over the years, there have only been a few exceptions to this rule. I find that most movies I watch don't really need sequels as they tend to get everything right the first time and there's no need to continue the story any further. In the first movie, I got a kick out of the child's antics as bad as they were. I believe that the ending to the first movie was as far as it needed to go. I knew if they were going to make a second one that maybe the kid would find someone who was as bad as he was and he would maybe meet his match ETC. This is pretty much what occurs in this movie. I find that his bad antics and pranks were what made the first movie worth watching but I had a feeling that they would have had to introduce a new character that might have been worse than him and to me, that was unnecessary. The first movie ended fine. At some point, he would've had to be upstaged. I knew they just couldn't recycle the same storyline from the first movie in order to advance the story. However, this movie did not need a sequel. It was good enough the first time. I'll admit that there were some good moments throughout this movie and to its credit, the child doesn't exactly act like an angel in this movie either. However, I'm going to have to drop the rating from a full score this time because there was no need to add another movie in the franchise in my opinion. I do realize that this is the Problem Child franchise so it would have looked weird if they had all been well behaved children throughout the whole movie and to me, the children weren't the problem. The actions of the adults bothered me the most. It can be said that none of the pranks or bad actions throughout this film would've happened if adults hadn't set a bad example for the children by behaving the same way. This film tried to depict the bad children but in my view, the adults were much worse. Granted, I know this was a comedy and everything is done to make the viewer laugh. Most of it does but I will also say that some parts went too far. For example, the continuous toilet humor and gross out comedy was a little too much for me at times. I don't really know what I was expecting from the second movie that I didn't get out of the first one but if I'm being honest, I really wasn't expecting much because I thought that this was an unnecessary sequel from the beginning. The introduction of a second child who was just as bad if not worse than the original child was almost inevitable. However, this movie gave me the opportunity to see if the child would finally meet his match. This is something that was missing from the first movie. I'll give the movie credit for the adult who tried to have him sent to boarding school but I wish the movie focused more on his effort to prevent that from happening instead of him trying to prevent his father from finding love again. Overall, this movie wasn't the worst sequel I've ever seen but it didn't match the quality of the original. Some parts were funny, particularly the scenes that involve the children, but there were too many moments that felt unnecessary or over the top. I will probably continue with the series at some point but this movie did not improve upon the original and to me, it felt like the story was stretched too far. It's one of those movies that I can take or leave. I don't regret watching it but I also wouldn't necessarily watch it again. It was average at best. I don't want to totally fail it because like I said, there were some good moments. They've simply taken it further than it needs to go. Having said that, it wasn't completely horrible so I will count the positive points throughout this movie so that it won't completely fail. Hopefully my next review will be better.

A lonely girl adopts a monkey trained to steal — and has to hide him from her parents while his criminal owner tries to take him back.

This comedy follows a young girl whose loneliness drives her to be rebellious towards those around her as she tries to convince her parents that she is able to take care of a pet. She then comes across a monkey who was trained to be a kleptomaniac by its criminal owner who uses the animal to sneak into people's houses to rob them. As the two form a bond, she finds herself needing to hide the animal from her parents while the monkey tries to avoid being captured by its original owner having settled into a more positive life with the young girl. Unfortunately, this proves to be no easy task as they find themselves battling hurdles in order to stay together.

This is one of those movies that appears to be lighthearted at first glance. There is a seemingly innocent girl who adopts a pet monkey who helps her regain confidence. I chose this movie thinking that it would be a nice change as opposed to the movies I'm used to watching with a lot of violence ETC. For the most part, this movie did not disappoint as it did present that type of lighthearted family friendly vibe that would be expected from anyone who comes across it for the first time. Having said that, this movie is not completely without its faults and unfortunately, those faults will significantly drop the rating from what I thought would be a perfect score just based on its premise. I know these are the types of movies that mom likes. Ones that depict a bond between a child and their pet as I know she appreciates animals. I was hoping to be able to recommend this movie to her so that she could watch it. Having said that, there are certain scenes that I felt had no business in a children's movie. First of all, the girl's overall attitude towards her infant brother was unacceptable. At one point, she insinuated that he should get hurt or even die just because her mother was spending more time with him. Second of all, I cannot accept the treatment given to that poor animal throughout this movie as he was abused and threatened by his previous owner by attempting to grab him and choke him, ETC. Also, towards the end of this film, he is screamed at by a boy. I don't want to say too much as I do not want to ruin the movie itself for those who haven't seen it. However, the biggest problem I had with this movie was when the young girl was grabbed by the arm and then the back of the neck by the monkey's previous owner. I cannot believe they would put that in a movie geared towards children much less one that had such a good vibe to it. I have to say that just this scene alone almost was enough for me to completely fail this movie, never mind about the rest of its faults. This movie went way too far with the villain by allowing him to do that. Having said that, I cannot fail this movie completely because of the monkey. He was so cute and innocent and I know that despite some of the scenes in this movie, mom would enjoy it just because of how cute the monkey is. I know I did. He was the main focus of the film. In other words, the monkey saved this film from failing completely. Having said that, it was far from perfect. It was not what I was expecting. It was much worse. I would go as far as to say that if it wasn't for that furry cute little animal, this movie would have totally failed. My inability to resist some animals has forced me to boost this rating. I sure hope the next movie I review is much better than this one. To use the pun, the monkey in this movie was not monkeying around with this review and neither am I. I have to give credit where it is due. The monkey made this movie. That's all there is to it.

A birthday party inside a closed arcade turns into a stalking by a masked killer — after nearly an hour of teenagers doing what teenagers do.

This movie follows a young woman who celebrates her birthday with a group of friends inside a Fun Haven arcade after the establishment is closed only for the group to be stalked and murdered one by one by an uninvited guest wielding a knife and sporting a Mickey Mouse mask with the power to teleport.

There was a question I had even before I watched this movie. What do people generally think of when they hear the name of Mickey Mouse? I would think the answer would be something along the lines of a child-friendly companion and someone that all kids could relate to. Well based on the trailer for this film, I knew there would be none of that even though this is before I saw it. As a matter of fact, I notice that Disney seems to want to create horror versions of different types of kid related stories and movies. These are movies that a parent would think it's decent for a child to view only to turn it on and come to the realization that the movie is nothing of the sort. Well,I this movie sort of disappointed me in the beginning as it took nearly three quarters of the 80-minute runtime for the movie to live up to its expectations as far as I was concerned. I knew there would be killing but I didn't think it would take nearly the entire film for a movie that is supposedly a slasher film to start producing results. As a matter of fact, the entire first hour of this movie made me sick. Not because of the knife wielding maniac or the gory scenes that would only happen near the end but because it was full of teenagers doing what they do best. Breaking the rules and drinking, pretty much thinking they can get away with anything. It brings me back to when my brothers were teenagers when they would defy rules put in place by mom and spend the whole night partying, ETC. The last thing I need is see that in movies. As a rule, teenagers make me feel uncomfortable because I'm a whole generation ahead of them in age. They have their whole life ahead of them while I have already lived half of mine. I'll never be as young as they are now. Having said that, in some ways, that's not a bad thing. I just don't want to be looked at by one of them and be called old man. The slasher sequences eventually delivered some of the horror and suspense I expected after watching the trailer, but they arrived too late to save the movie for me. However, as this movie did not live up to my expectations, it will be given a complete fail. If I was to recommend it to anyone, it would probably be the teenage demographic. Particularly those that find enjoyment in slasher movies. If not the teenage demographic, then maybe an adult who is a fan of slasher movies such as myself. The problem is that I'm sure anyone who watches this movie is going to be sadly disappointed if they expected to see a full thrasher movie and not a movie that's 99% about teenage relationships ETC. I was very disappointed with this movie. This may seem harsh but it's true. I expected much better.

The one thing that I will give this movie credit for is the fact that it's a short one. Normally if I watch a movie in the afternoon, I like it to be short so I don't burn myself out for the movie I will watch that evening. This movie clocks in at around 80 minutes and it was good enough for me to do a review. Having said that, this is not enough for me to boost the overall rating of this film. This one will end with a complete failure of a score but that's ok. In life, not everything is perfect. I know that there will be some movies I cannot stand which will receive this score if people want my honest opinion. Hopefully the next review will be better and I will be able to bounce back in terms of a more positive score

Tom Arnold leads a family with no common sense whose mishaps escalate into a fight with a team of military officials.

Jeff’s verdictOne of my favorites that I've reviewed so far. I really enjoyed this film.

This sci comedy follows a family named the Stupids who display a complete lack of common sense in their lives which eventually lead to a series of mishaps involving law enforcement and destruction of some government buildings as well as the invasion of tv studio during a live broadcast. Eventually the family's complete stupidity leads them to a fight against a team of military officials where their only chance of survival is quick and smart thinking.

I've actually wanted to see this movie for a while but never had the chance to do so up until this point. Tom Arnold has been an actor that I never really cared for. He was always just someone who I was able to take or leave. Then I saw him for the first time in the movie "Carpool" (1996) and I was impressed by his performance. He was the standout actor in that movie. I was hoping to be impressed by him in this movie but I did not know what to expect out of this movie as I had only seen the trailer and only had an idea of what this movie was about. From watching the trailer, I knew it was some sort of action comedy. I thought it was a family that had super powers at first glance who were ordinary people by day and superheroes by night. I made a little mistake in this assumption but I was once again impressed by what I saw. The first few scenes made the rest of this movie worth watching in my opinion. Everything from them sleeping with their heads at the wrong end of the bed to the children not knowing what wigs are and everything in between made this movie a total classic. This is definitely one I would recommend for all ages despite it's overall portrayal of violence. It certainly has a very comedic aspect to it. Also, the mother in this movie gave the impression of Peg Bundy from the tv show "Married With Children in the way that she dressed and acted throughout. The family's overall nonsense and goofy nature in the face of immediate danger made this movie one of my favorites that I've reviewed so far. I really enjoyed this film. It has definitely earned a passing score.

This movie follows a developmentally challenged father who is forced to take care of his newborn baby on his own after the child's mother abandons them immediately after giving birth. Despite his disability proving to be a challenge, he succeeds to a certain degree. However, problems arise as his daughter reaches her seventh birthday and surpasses his maturity level which leads to a battle from him against the legal system with the help of a caring lawyer to prove that he is still a capable parent despite his disability.

I have a lot to say in regards to my opinions on this movie. First of all, I don't know how anybody can stand to watch this given how emotional some of the scenes are. Having said that, the very beginning of the movie wasn't nearly as bad as what occurred about halfway through when reality started to hit the poor guy really hard and he was told he could only see his kids a certain number of times a week with supervised visits. While watching this movie, I was under the weather with a headache and I needed some Tylenol. As the pills started to work, I began to think that the negativity that was occurring within the movie was actually happening to me and that someone was telling me for whatever reason that I couldn't be around mom. I actually found myself cussing out the woman in the movie and telling her to go away. This was probably the pills working on me. Normally I wouldn't do this but I almost got emotional and started screaming "Don't take mommy away me," ETC which would have been weird for a person my age to do. This is despite my never ending and sometimes annoying admiration for mom, (at least in her eyes.) Luckily the pills wore off before it got that far. Despite returning to my normal self, I was still feeling a bit under the weather as my headache was still lingering and I was starting to doze off at certain points. This almost made it impossible for me to do this review. I was ready at one point to just give this movie a complete fail as I didn't think I would be able to finish it due to being so tired. However, the need to keep my word forced me to continue. That word would be that I made a commitment to reviewing all movies (good and bad) and I wanted to keep that commitment. After having to pause to use the bathroom though, I said enough is enough. I either wasn't going to review this movie at all or give it such a failing score that nobody would waste their money to watch it. At this point, I was going to leave this movie without a review as I felt like crying due to the thought of the same situation occurring between mom and I where a court calls into question mom's ability to care properly for me and places me in foster care as well. Once I talked to mom though, she convinced me to see the end of the movie citing the promise I made to everyone that once I said I would review a movie, it meant every movie. What gets me more than anything is what happened once I restarted the movie.

In a five second span, I realized a couple of things. First of all, the child's name is Lucy which is the same name as my mother, (albeit with a different spelling,) so therefore it reminds me of her in a way. Also, the efforts put forth by the father despite his disability to see his daughter just prove that he wants what's best for her. He's doing it out of love for her. Also, I noticed that his daughter sees him in the same way that mom's cat sees her. He is 100% devoted to her and always wanting to cuddle with her on the couch, ETC. I'm talking about the cat. Anyway, the child in the movie is about the same age as mom's cat in human years so there's a bit of a connection there. I then came to realize that there's actually a lot of aspects in this movie which remind me of mom, (of course starting with the child's name being Lucy.) Therefore I never thought I would do this in a million years but when you consider all of the good points within this movie, it has actually received a passing score. I had to dig down deep to obtain it but it was well deserved. It may not have earned it right away but it proves that sometimes it takes time to prove how good something can be.

All things considered, one thing this movie did teach me is to appreciate the fact that mom was able to care for me the way she did as I was growing up. These are things that I used to take for granted as a child but now I realize that I'm blessed to have had a great mother like I had, (and still have to this day,) growing up. I realize that not everybody is as lucky as I have been to have had someone who cares as much as she has and still does to this day. For that matter, I still feel lucky. I'm lucky to have a mother as great as I do and I'm lucky to have viewed this movie. It really taught me a lot about myself and how I should count my blessings to have everything good that I do in my life. This movie is definitely recommended!

Eddie Murphy is cursed to keep quiet by a spiritual tree that drops a leaf for every word he speaks.

Eddie Murphy stars in this comedy drama film as a man who is never at a loss for words until he is cursed to keep quiet by a spiritual tree which has the power to control his life expectancy by the amount of leaves that fall from it. He finds that he must choose his words very carefully as each word causes one leaf to fall. If all the leaves fall from the tree, it could cause devastating consequences for him as he may not live to tell the tale.

I must have forgotten how much profanity and sexual content was in this movie because I was expecting it to be on Disney Plus. Most movies starring Eddie Murphy are funny and have a lot of comedy but I never expected this movie to be so hard to review. It seemed like a kid's movie about nature but it turned out to be almost an adult movie with the language and sexual content throughout. Having said that, I don't have a problem with it. Having said that, I really didn't understand this movie in general. I don't know if it was a curse he was under that connected him to the tree or what was the cause of it, ETC. The biggest thing I had a problem with about this film is its ending. I don't know whether the curse is ever broken or if it was all a dream. It seemed like the tree was still upright by the end of the film so I don't know what to make of this. It was even hard for me to put my description into words when describing this film as part of this review. Pretty much I believe that the only thing I will give this movie credit for is the casting of Eddie Murphy. I've always enjoyed his comedy no matter what movie I've seen him in. The rest of this movie was a confusing mess that I simply cannot figure out. It's a good thing Eddie Murphy was in this movie because his performance was one of the only elements that kept my attention. Having said that, I cannot give this movie a complete passing score because it's actually the first one I've done which I am unable to give a proper review due to my lack of being able to understand it. I will give credit where it is due though. Out of respect for Eddie Murphy and his comedy, this movie will not fail completely but it will also not completely pass either. This will be reflected in the final score of this movie and I hope I can at least understand the next one better.

This comedy stars Billy Crystal and Bette Midler as grandparents who are tasked with babysitting their three grandchildren while their parents are away. Their old school approach to handling the children soon clash with their parents' modern approach to discipline as they try to connect with their grandchildren by helping each one of the three children handle their own individual issues.

I've actually seen this movie enough times that I could have easily wrote a review without watching it. This is one of the more family-oriented comedies I've reviewed as opposed to the movies I'm used to reviewing which are usually only geared to a more mature audience. I don't have much to say about this movie if I'm being honest. There's not much that I find wrong about this movie or that I think could have gone better. Robin Williams as a disgraced children's television mascot who wants his old life back — and revenge on the rhino who replaced him.

Jeff’s verdictEven though this movie was no good, he essentially was the hero that saved it from failure.

Robin Williams stars in this dramatic thriller which follows a criminal who masquerades as a children's television mascot who is replaced by a rhinoceros like mascot after he is arrested and fired from the show. Now depressed and longing for his old life, he vows revenge on his replacement by any means necessary even if that means murder.

It was nice to see Robin Williams in a movie. I know that most movies I've seen him in are deemed as classics. Having said that, I have to take issue with this one. This was supposed to be a movie that starred Robin Williams yet he is basically arrested in the first five minutes of the movie with no explanation or build up to this. He hadn't done anything to show that he would be the villain. As far as I was concerned, he was a happy go lucky children's television mascot only to be arrested in the next scene without having done anything to warrant it. The viewer is basically left to wonder why he would have been arrested. It took me a few minutes to figure this out myself. I put it together that he may have been a criminal but I couldn't confirm this just by looking at him. To put it simple, this movie fails to take the time to acknowledge the characters as they are. In my mind, they could have at least showed him doing something illegal which in turn would justify him getting arrested and needing to be replaced. For that matter, this movie is supposed to star Robin Williams. As far as I'm concerned, the star of any movie should be the main focus throughout and should get more screen time than everybody else. For the first half of the movie, he is not seen after getting arrested and even when he is, it seems like he is only in a few scenes. To put it simple, he does not get enough screen time to warrant the belief that he is the star. If anything, the star should have been the guy who replaced him. Also, the ending doesn't make sense. I don't want to spoil it for those who haven't seen this movie but by the end, he is essentially his replacement's best friend after been seen as the criminal throughout the entire movie. It's almost like they couldn't decide whether he should be the villain or not. Unfortunately, I don't have many positive things to say about this movie. All of the faults I have towards this movie are going to drop the final review from what I thought would be a passing score.

As everybody knows by now though, I'm not heartless and I will give credit where it's due. Even though there's so much about this movie that doesn't make sense, it did have Robin Williams in it. To me, this boosts the final score a little higher than it would have been boosted if any other actor took the role. Even at that though, I will not be able to boost it even halfway to a perfect score. There's just too much wrong with this movie. This is one of those movies where the actor playing in it saved the movie from an otherwise complete failure of a score. So I will say that because I got to see Robin Williams in yet another movie, it was good enough not to be horrible. However, I did expect better especially from a movie that stars him. This is one thing I notice about Robin Williams' performances in the 2000's. He had a tendency of playing characters in movies that were less desirable than the ones he played in the 90's when I was growing up. Whether the hero or the villain though, he still helped this movie get a boost as far as being likable is concerned. Even though this movie was no good, he essentially was the hero that saved it from failure.

Dinosaurs knock out the power in a small town and it turns into a fight for survival — Jeff's first theatrical review.

Jeff’s verdictThis movie is perfect in every other way and I would definitely recommend it!

This movie follows an unexplained phenomenon in which dinosaurs cause a power outage in a local town and wreak havoc on its citizens and houses which get in the way of their destruction in what could be the end of civilization if the citizens don't find a way to contain the catastrophe before it's too late.

This was a really good movie that has the distinction of being my first theatrical review. It is recommended for those people who are fans of the "Jurassic Park" franchise as this movie accurately portrays that franchise with its inclusion of dinosaurs. Being a fan of thriller movies, I was expecting a lot from this movie and it did deliver to some extent. Having said that, I've never been much of a fan of movies that portray situations in which the do or die scenario is present. I believe this would apply to movies such as this one that portray some sort of natural disaster. In other words, this is sort of a mixed review for me. It was definitely worth the time despite some jump scare scenes and graphic violence along with the feeling that this movie isn't for everyone. It's the type of movie that has you hanging on the edge of your seat as you are left to wonder how it will end and if anyone will survive and ultimately what was the cause of the main conflict. If I'm being completely honest, I don't like power outages as it is because it means I can't watch tv or use my computer ETC. However deep down I knew that it was just a failure and that all was not lost. From what I see, the characters in this movie had a lot more to be worried about than just not watching tv or being left without power in general. They had to fight for survival but survival was the one thing I had taken for granted when I lost power in the past. I knew I would survive. There was no prehistoric disaster which unleashed dinosaurs on an unsuspecting community like there was in this movie. This is another movie that makes me appreciate how good I have it even in what I consider to be the worst of times where all I have to worry about is losing it but knowing I'll get it back eventually without having to fend off unbeatable creatures known as dinosaurs. As I discussed in my review of "Analyze This," I appreciate movies that give me wake up calls to my overall outlook on situations where I might have to lose my tv for a while because of something I know will get fixed eventually. The characters in this movie had it much worse as far as I'm concerned.

In my mind, I think Jennifer Garner would have been a better choice for the role of the mother instead of Anne Hathaway. I don't know why this is. It just seems like she would have been a better fit for that role though I do believe that Anne Hathaway did a good job. Actually when I first saw the trailer for this movie, I thought it was Jennifer Garner in the role. I think this was because I wasn't paying attention. Though I cannot give a solid reason as to why I believe she would have been a better choice, I think it's because I'm used to seeing her in roles where she plays a mother to at least one child who is in trouble for some reason, (I just described the plot of "Miracles From Heaven,") but even without a sick child present in the movie, I've grown accustomed to seeing her in roles as a mother. This is why it surprised me when she wasn't cast. Having said that, Anne Hathaway's performance was really good,

I have to give this movie a little bit of criticism as it is very emotional in some scenes. I know that this may fit with the theme of the movie being the end of the world where everybody is fighting for survival but when I find myself barely holding back tears, (which is something I never do as I'm good at keeping my emotions in check even during scenes that are emotional), it has to negatively impact the overall review to some extent. This movie was really good and I really enjoyed it but I have to be honest in saying that I nearly broke my cycle in never crying at certain points within this movie. For this to happen, it means it has to be very emotional to a point where it nearly causes me grief. Therefore, the final review of this movie is that it was a great one for those who are fans of horror movies and natural disaster movie but at the same time, the emotional scenes were just a little too much to ignore. Having said that, this movie is perfect in every other way and I would definitely recommend it!

Jeff O Meter final score: 8 out of 10.

This comedy follows two down on their luck brothers whose attempts to get into various nightclubs fail miserably. After being denied entry into every one in town, they finally have some success after a minor road collision with one of their favorite celebrities who offers them a way in to one which in turn boosts their self-confidence enough to the point where one finds himself getting married.

I have to be honest in saying that I really don't understand the plot or conflict of this movie. This is going to make it really hard to review. At first, I thought the plot was the two brothers being banned from the hottest club in town but then I realized while watching this movie that the main plot may have been that they want to build their own but cannot do so for some reason. The movie tends to go back and forth between the two possible plots and conflicts. It is very confusing to me. I actually chose this movie for two reasons. First of all, Will Ferrell in one of my favorite actors. I've loved him in every movie I've seen him in so far. The second reason is because this movie was suggested to me by mom to be added to my list. As I've said before, anything that mom suggests for me to watch will always get a score higher than what the movie would have received otherwise. Despite knowing nothing about the main plot, (having only heard the name of the movie up to that point and only being in the room at one point while it was playing and not paying attention to it,) I had to agree because I made it my mission to always give whatever mom likes a passing grade. However, I wasn't going to review this particular movie tonight. Tonight I was going to review the movie "Death To Smoochy" starring Robin Williams but I changed my mind due to time constraints. With this in mind, I had to scrape to find anything decent about this movie to prevent it from receiving a failing score. There are a few aspects of this movie that I could get behind. First of all, I love Will Ferrell as an actor. To be honest, I don't even know the other actor. However, my admiration for Will Ferrell will save this movie from an otherwise complete failure not because the movie was bad but because I simply know nothing about it. Also, I can never deny the fact that mom suggested this movie to me and in my never ending effort to make her happy, I agreed that this movie should at least be added to the list. One criticism I have about the movie itself is that Will Ferrell and the other guy spend way too much time trying to score with women. In my experience, they're wasting their time. It seems like everybody in this day and age has a goal to be in a relationship when being in a relationship is actually what caused me the biggest downward spiral in my life. Relationships just get on my nerves. It means having to care about what people think and having to do what they want ETC. I'm just happy being by myself if I'm being honest but since Will Ferrell wastes his time trying to score with a woman, he indirectly is wasting my time because I'm the guy whose currently watching the movie. The worst part of this movie was at the end when he actually agrees to marry someone only for that wedding to be ruined when he comes to his senses. It was at this point in the movie that I nearly fell asleep and realized that I would have likely been better off watching "Death To Smoochy." Having said that, Will Ferrell and mom saved this review from an otherwise failure of a review. I'm doing this since I'm not heartless. I think I'm being generous in giving this movie the score I'm about to give it. Like almost everything else in my life, mom is to thank for this boost in the overall rating and Will Ferrell can take some of the credit as well. He is what made this movie worth watching in my eyes. Also I can never not give mom credit for my generosity because had it not been for her, this movie wouldn't have even been on the list. However, as I'm feeling rather generous, I will say that this movie wasn't so bad but I've definitely seen better.

Jeff O Meter final score: 5 out of 10.

What works

  • Will Ferrell is one of my favorite actors and he is what made this movie worth watching in my eyes.
  • Mom suggested it, and anything mom suggests always gets a score higher than it otherwise would.

What to know

  • I really don't understand the plot or conflict — the movie goes back and forth between two possible ones.
  • They spend way too much time trying to score with women.
  • Not recommended for young children.

Comedy: not recommended for young children, sexual content and nudity throughout, coarse language, mature themes, scenes with adult immaturity, scenes depicting family turmoil, sexual implications and dialogue, brief violence, scenes which depict sexual harassment.

This comedy follows a former mob boss who finds himself unable to kill anyone following a family tragedy which occurred years prior. He soon seeks professional help from a psychiatrist who isn't too eager to help him but finds that he may not have a choice when he is tasked with him as a patient. This is a decision he may soon regret as the patient begins impacting his everyday life which in turn may force him to go as crazy as his patients do.

There's a few things about this movie that I notice right out of the gate. This movie definitely has similarities to another movie I've seen called "What About Bob?" where a patient of a psychiatrist finds himself unable to cope with his problems while his psychiatrist is on vacation so he follows him to his vacation spot and nearly succeeds in driving him crazy. About halfway through this movie, I realized that it is the same concept with this movie. The only differences are the actors playing the roles and the circumstance. Throughout this movie, the psychiatrist's attempts to get married are thwarted at the last second by the sudden arrival of his patient. I couldn't believe the similarities between the two movies and I actually believe that this movie may be a sequel to that one, (it came out about 8 years prior to "What About Bob?") Anyway, I'm pretty sure those people who have seen both movies will be able to spot the similarities between the two of them. At times it felt like I was watching the movie "What About Bob?"

Also I find that this movie hits really close to home with me but in a good way. These are the types of movies I like. Ones that indirectly teach me lessons about how to handle certain aspects of my life and in this movie's case, teach me about the mistakes I have made and how to see things from the other point of view. You see, the patient in this movie was given numerous requests by the psychiatrist to give him some space as well as a timeline for when they would be able to talk. Unfortunately, in my own life, I have issues with holding up my end of the bargain in respecting the timeline put forth by mom for us to have our daily chat. Just like the character in this movie, as well as the character in the movie "What About Bob?" which eventually leads to the main conflict in both movies, I have disregarded the request by consistently calling mom outside of the agreed upon time which in turn has lead to annoyance on her part despite my reasoning that I have the best intentions ETC. Well after seeing this movie, I can honestly say that I now see things from her point of view. I mean the patient interrupted the psychiatrist's wedding numerous times throughout the movie all for his own gain. I know it's not as bad in my case with mom. I'm pretty sure when I've called her, I've never interrupted a wedding but this got me to thinking that maybe people do indeed need their own space and need to have their own life. If you were to ask me, I would say that the patient was being very selfish and inconsiderate of other people's right to have privacy. Having said that, I can't say I blame him. After all, I have done that a lot to mom and each time I have, it has led to the same outcome. She always gets mad and accuses me of not giving her the space she needs or respecting the set times put in place, ETC. Well now that I've seen this happen through this movie, I may be able to turn over a new leaf and have respect for the boundaries that have been put in place. It won't be easy but I will try to use this movie as an example of what might be happening each time I do this and how she may be feeling.

There is one little bit of criticism I have for this movie. It appears that it may have lasted too long after the main conflict had been resolved. At one point after I thought the movie was over, I noticed that there was still about a half an hour left during which I nearly dozed off. If this would have happened, I would not have been able to do a proper review due to being too tired. Luckily it ended before I was able to fall asleep completely. Unfortunately though this slightly will effect the overall outcome of this movie though if it was pretty good and it would be perfect otherwise. I hope there's more movies to come like this because I really enjoyed it and I definitely would recommend it!

Jeff O Meter final score: 9 out of 10.

  • It indirectly taught me a lesson about respecting other people's space and boundaries.

This movie follows a mommy blogger who faces criticism from other parents regarding her parenting style which she must combat with cheerfulness while trying to plan a birthday party for her young daughter.

This is a movie that I knew absolutely nothing about until earlier this afternoon. I took a trip to the local thrift store near where I live and I found the DVD of this movie. Upon reading the short review of it on the back, I figured I would give it a try as it appeared that the woman in this movie went through a lot of the same things mom went through when we were kids with the need to do things and the constant pressure to do things just right ETC. Speaking of pressure, this is something that we used to put on mom as kids, (of course we were too young to know what we were doing at the time), and expect to be given the most expensive things ETC. Looking back on this as an adult and seeing this in a movie, I realize that doing this only causes more stress on mom as it did in the movie and to me, this is what being spoiled is. Always expecting to get more than you think you will. What we didn't realize as kids is that the expectation for this put a lot of pressure on mom. This is what the little girl didn't realize in this movie.

For a movie that's supposed to be about raising kids, it seems like the entire movie was based around the woman feeling sorry for herself. At least once in every scene, she was complaining that someone was doing wrong by her in some way and hoping someone will care. Well until the very end of one scene, nobody did. At the very end of the scene in question, a driver tells another driver who is confronting her to cut her slack. This may have been sarcastic as the same person had just finished criticizing her over something himself. I don't even remember what it was. I wasn't paying attention. As a matter of fact, for this whole movie I was sidetracked by the thought of whether or not I should have watched the original movie I was going to watch. This would have been "Analyze This" with Billy Crystal but this was changed due to me starting the movie later than I should have and being too tired to view it much less review it. It would have been too long. Having said that, it surely would have been more entertaining than this one was. This movie was an hour and a half of pain and torture to sit through. It is also a movie that I didn't have to rent and it's a good thing I didn't because it would have been a waste of money. For anyone who uses Prime Video and has a Crave subscription, I urge you not to waste your time on this ridiculous movie that serves as a sob story for a woman. Don't get me wrong. I've been around 36 years and I know that as a child, mom needed some help in raising us and I'm sure there were some people who she had problems with but this woman in the movie takes this to a whole new level. She really epitomizes the fact that she gets no help and she complains about everything. Now I'm going to start complaining. This movie was no good and unless people want reasons to complain, I definitely would not view this movie. For two days straight, I reviewed John Candy movies, (The Great Outdoors and Uncle Buck respectively.) Those two days earned the Jeff O meter its first two perfect reviews. Well this movie is going to result in a first for the Jeff O meter. Not only will this movie perfectly fail but it will sink down below as far as the score is concerned. You probably don't think I can go lower than zero and most of the time you would be right. For this movie though I'm willing to make an exception and I hope this is the last time I have to do this. The only bit of solace I find with this review is that tomorrow's review will be so much better. No movie can possibly do any worse than this one did. I can only be glad that it's over now.

The second John Candy movie in a row — and the one that showed me how to keep my cool.

Jeff’s verdictI could watch this movie over and over. A great movie with a great actor.

This comedy follows a man who is tasked to look after his nieces and nephews while the parents are away tending to a medical emergency within the family. Though he arrives with the best of intentions, he soon finds that getting the children to like him may be an uphill battle he cannot win.

This is the second movie in a row that I've reviewed with John Candy. In my first review, (The Great Outdoors,) almost the entire review was dedicated to him rather than the movie itself. He just tends to always send a positive vibe in any movie he is in despite the poor treatment I notice he receives throughout the movies I've seen him in.

This movie in particular really showcases that and it actually almost annoyed me to the point where the final score would have been affected negatively. I couldn't believe how poorly he was treated throughout this movie. He is constantly ridiculed throughout for reasons such as his living arrangement and being an embarrassment ETC. The biggest problem I have with this is that he did not do anything to deserve it. He brings his cheerfulness and his positivity and what does he get in return? He gets children who are ungrateful and rude to him despite his attempts at getting the children to respect him.

On a personal note, I know if I was rude to anyone who was trying to be nice to me, certain people in my life would definitely not approve. To me this shows that those children were spoiled and didn't realize how much he was trying to help them. I was won over by the way he handled himself. He used humor and he never stopped trying to establish a good connection with them despite the teenage girl in particular not really deserving it as far as I'm concerned.

To be quite honest, I have to admit that I don't have a lot of patience myself and sometimes I have trouble keeping my emotions in check. Having said that, I feel I could learn something from John Candy's performance in this movie. He was calm cool and collected while the children made him look bad even when it got to a point where a person with a less amount of patience would have snapped. I feel like maybe this is the way I should act. Instead of getting mad and swearing revenge on people who I feel deserve it, (there's not a lot of people who I feel deserve it. At least nobody from within my immediate family,) I should just take it with a grain of salt like he does in his movies. I need to learn to just be the funniest man in the room.

In my mind, John Candy just brings warmth and positivity to every role I've seen him in even when he's treated badly throughout the movie. This is why I decided not to let the poor way I felt he was treated negatively affect the final score of this review. It seems like his great acting and positive influence on me have overshadowed anything negative about this movie. The funny about this is that he's an actor who was acting long before I was old enough to even know how to give a review and he's unfortunately been deceased longer than I've been a fan of any movie. Therefore, I'm gaining a positive influence by someone who was around basically before my time. This was just the kind of person John Candy was. He was an inspiration to all and this movie is proof of that.

With this in mind, I will now give my final score for this movie even though it should be obvious what it is given what I've said in the last few minutes. I could watch this movie over and over. This is actually another one of these movies that mom recommended so just on that fact alone, the movie should get a passing review. I have a rule that I would never give anything mom suggests me to watch anything less than a passing review even if the movie was horrible, (which this one obviously wasn't,) but when I combine the fact that mom suggested this movie to me along with how great this movie actually was, everybody knows what the final score should be.

All I can say is that I wish I could find more movies like this one. It was a great movie with a great actor.

Jeff O Meter final score: 10 out of 10.

What works

  • John Candy brings warmth and positivity to every role I've seen him in.

A cabin vacation turns into a game of one upmanship — and John Candy is the reason I watched it.

Jeff’s verdictI will definitely recommend this movie!

This comedy follows a family vacation to a cabin turning into the ultimate game of one upmanship when the family's distant relatives arrive unannounced and attempt to win over the respect of the patriarch's children.

Though he was relevant before my time, I previously saw John Candy for the first time in the movie “Planes, Trains and Automobiles.” In that movie, he served as the annoying but lovable antagonist. His knack for being annoying in that movie was what drew me towards him as one of my favorite actors. I could tell that he had a soft spot as he seemed to long for approval and basically wanted to belong.

I think in this movie, he got a taste of what it's sort of like to be annoyed by someone who won't leave you alone when you want to be. Despite this, I've seen him on both sides of the equation at this point. He's been the guy that everybody hates but can't help but love and the guy that loves everybody but can't help but feel annoyed by the presence and antics of another person.

To be honest, I was drawn to this movie just by the fact that he was in it. I would definitely recommend this movie because I feel like everybody should admire the acting of John Candy.

I will definitely recommend this movie!

This is a drama, and I wouldn’t put it on for young children. There’s a lot of medical talk about cancer and death, some graphic medical scenes, family disputes, mild coarse language and a bit of teen drinking. My mom recommended it to me, which is how I ended up watching it on Netflix.

I have to be upfront: my mom had cancer. Cancer movies hit too close to home for me. I know that colours how I watched this, and I’m not going to pretend otherwise.

It got to me emotionally. There were parts where I wasn’t really reviewing a movie anymore — I was just sitting there thinking about my own family. That’s a hard place to watch from, and it’s the main reason my score is where it is.

I love Adam Sandler. I always have. And his real-life daughter is genuinely good in this — she does a great job, and I wasn’t expecting to be that impressed. The ending is relatively happy too, which helped.

But my final score on the Jeff O Meter is 3 out of 10. That’s me being honest about my own experience with it, not a knock on the people who made it.

What works

  • Adam Sandler’s real-life daughter is very good in the role.
  • Adam Sandler himself — I’ve always liked him, and that hasn’t changed.
  • The ending is relatively happy, which I appreciated after everything before it.

What to know

  • If cancer is close to home for you, know that going in — it was for me.
  • Strong medical, cancer and death discussion, plus some graphic medical scenes.
  • Family disputes, mild coarse language and minor teen alcohol consumption.
  • Not one for young children.

The Fred and Wilma origin story — a movie I loved as a kid that didn’t hold up the same way when I watched it again as an adult.

Jeff’s verdictGood enough, but it could have been better.

This one is sci-fi, comedy and romance all mixed together, and it does carry a few mature themes — gambling and marriage, some brief romantic dialogue and violence, and homelessness that’s implied rather than shown. It’s the origin story: how Fred and Wilma met and how Barney and Betty came into the picture, before everything we already know from the show.

When I was a kid, this felt like a classic to me. I was a Flintstones fan through and through — I even had a Fred Flintstone smock that I wore as a Halloween costume. So I came back to this one expecting to enjoy it all over again.

Watching it as an adult, it kind of flopped for me. A lot of the humour that’s supposed to land for grown-ups just came off as childish, and it didn’t hit the way I remembered it hitting. That’s not the movie’s fault exactly — it’s partly me being older — but I have to be honest about it.

Even with that, the nostalgia is still there. I’m a Flintstones fan, and there’s something about seeing Bedrock again that I can’t completely shake. If you liked the show, or you’ve got kids who do, there’s a decent night in here.

So my final score on the Jeff O Meter is 5 out of 10. Good enough, but it could have been better.

What works

  • The Fred and Wilma origin story gives it a real reason to exist.
  • Bedrock is fun to look at, and the nostalgia is genuine if you grew up on the show.
  • It’s an easy watch for kids and for parents who liked the cartoon.

What to know

  • A lot of the supposed adult humour plays as childish.
  • It held up better in my memory than it did on the rewatch.
  • Mature themes: gambling and marriage, brief romantic dialogue and violence, implied homelessness.
