Jeff’s take
There was a question I had even before I watched this movie. What do people generally think of when they hear the name of Mickey Mouse? I would think the answer would be something along the lines of a child-friendly companion and someone that all kids could relate to. Well based on the trailer for this film, I knew there would be none of that even though this is before I saw it. As a matter of fact, I notice that Disney seems to want to create horror versions of different types of kid related stories and movies. These are movies that a parent would think it's decent for a child to view only to turn it on and come to the realization that the movie is nothing of the sort. Well,I this movie sort of disappointed me in the beginning as it took nearly three quarters of the 80-minute runtime for the movie to live up to its expectations as far as I was concerned. I knew there would be killing but I didn't think it would take nearly the entire film for a movie that is supposedly a slasher film to start producing results. As a matter of fact, the entire first hour of this movie made me sick. Not because of the knife wielding maniac or the gory scenes that would only happen near the end but because it was full of teenagers doing what they do best. Breaking the rules and drinking, pretty much thinking they can get away with anything. It brings me back to when my brothers were teenagers when they would defy rules put in place by mom and spend the whole night partying, ETC. The last thing I need is see that in movies. As a rule, teenagers make me feel uncomfortable because I'm a whole generation ahead of them in age. They have their whole life ahead of them while I have already lived half of mine. I'll never be as young as they are now. Having said that, in some ways, that's not a bad thing. I just don't want to be looked at by one of them and be called old man. The best part of this movie is that most of them ended up succumbing like I thought everybody would given the trailer I watched. However, as this movie did not live up to my expectations, it will be given a complete fail. If I was to recommend it to anyone, it would probably be the teenage demographic. Particularly those that find enjoyment in slasher movies. If not the teenage demographic, then maybe an adult who is a fan of slasher movies such as myself. The problem is that I'm sure anyone who watches this movie is going to be sadly disappointed if they expected to see a full thrasher movie and not a movie that's 99% about teenage relationships ETC. I was very disappointed with this movie. This may seem harsh but it's true. I expected much better.
The one thing that I will give this movie credit for is the fact that it's a short one. Normally if I watch a movie in the afternoon, I like it to be short so I don't burn myself out for the movie I will watch that evening. This movie clocks in at around 80 minutes and it was good enough for me to do a review. Having said that, this is not enough for me to boost the overall rating of this film. This one will end with a complete failure of a score but that's ok. In life, not everything is perfect. I know that there will be some movies I cannot stand which will receive this score if people want my honest opinion. Hopefully the next review will be better and I will be able to bounce back in terms of a more positive score
