Content advisoryNot recommended for young children; scenes of verbal abuse towards children, supernatural elements throughout, some frightening scenes, offscreen violence depicting death.

Plot summary

This Halloween movie short follows a mysterious child who gains supernatural powers brought on by wearing a handmade costume of a box with a drawing of two eyes and a mouth. The child uses hand gestures to communicate and harm people who are mean to trick-or-treaters as they approach for candy on Halloween night or do not allow their children to celebrate the holiday altogether.

Worth watching

I have to say that doing a review like this was a challenge for me, but it was one that I was up to trying. Having said that, I promise that my next review will be on a full movie.

Jefferson Bert’s personal author message

As I do not really have enough of an opinion to comment on this video, as I did not see the whole thing but just part of it, I chose to just move straight to the author’s message, as it would have been basically the same as my description for the short.

I have to say that this was a challenge for me, as I usually only do movies. Having said that, this is not the first holiday short I’ve reviewed. I also reviewed “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” but I’ve never outright reviewed a video on YouTube.

I believe that most of the adults featured in this short are really mean to kids by yelling at them and threatening them. There was also a woman who would not allow her son to go trick-or-treating. To me, this is wrong. I will say that I wasn’t particularly impressed with how the man treated the kids. It was not acceptable, and he could have been much nicer. Some of the adult behavior felt familiar to me in an uncomfortable way, and that affected how I rated the short.

On the other hand, I do appreciate that somebody stood up for all the children who were being verbally abused and weren’t allowed to go out, thereby being deprived of having fun. To me, this child is what saved the video from a failing score.

I think the adults should have handled the situation calmly and explained if they had run out of candy. That comparison is how I came to my conclusion about their behavior.

I have to say that doing a review like this was a challenge for me, but it was one that I was up to trying. Having said that, I promise that my next review will be on a full movie.

Even though I’m aware that the purpose of writing these reviews is to give a detailed description of the movies I watch, I have a little problem with this one. You see, to be able to review a certain movie, I have to at least have an idea of what the movie is about or know what it’s about in general.
