Good enough. Had its moments.
Jeff’s final score for The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas — one man, one couch, one honest number.

Content noteSci-fi, comedy and romance with some mature themes: gambling and marriage, brief romantic dialogue and violence, and implied homelessness.
This one is sci-fi, comedy and romance all mixed together, and it does carry a few mature themes — gambling and marriage, some brief romantic dialogue and violence, and homelessness that’s implied rather than shown. It’s the origin story: how Fred and Wilma met and how Barney and Betty came into the picture, before everything we already know from the show.
Jeff’s take
When I was a kid, this felt like a classic to me. I was a Flintstones fan through and through — I even had a Fred Flintstone smock that I wore as a Halloween costume. So I came back to this one expecting to enjoy it all over again.
Watching it as an adult, it kind of flopped for me. A lot of the humour that’s supposed to land for grown-ups just came off as childish, and it didn’t hit the way I remembered it hitting. That’s not the movie’s fault exactly — it’s partly me being older — but I have to be honest about it.
Even with that, the nostalgia is still there. I’m a Flintstones fan, and there’s something about seeing Bedrock again that I can’t completely shake. If you liked the show, or you’ve got kids who do, there’s a decent night in here.
So my final score on the Jeff O Meter is 5 out of 10. Good enough, but it could have been better.
What works
- The Fred and Wilma origin story gives it a real reason to exist.
- Bedrock is fun to look at, and the nostalgia is genuine if you grew up on the show.
- It’s an easy watch for kids and for parents who liked the cartoon.
What to know before watching
- A lot of the supposed adult humour plays as childish.
- It held up better in my memory than it did on the rewatch.
- Mature themes: gambling and marriage, brief romantic dialogue and violence, implied homelessness.
