This comedy follows two down on their luck brothers whose attempts to get into various nightclubs fail miserably. After being denied entry into every one in town, they finally have some success after a minor road collision with one of their favorite celebrities who offers them a way in to one which in turn boosts their self-confidence enough to the point where one finds himself getting married.

Content noteComedy: not recommended for young children, sexual content and nudity throughout, coarse language, mature themes, scenes with adult immaturity, scenes depicting family turmoil, sexual implications and dialogue, brief violence, scenes which depict sexual harassment.

Jeff’s take

I have to be honest in saying that I really don't understand the plot or conflict of this movie. This is going to make it really hard to review. At first, I thought the plot was the two brothers being banned from the hottest club in town but then I realized while watching this movie that the main plot may have been that they want to build their own but cannot do so for some reason. The movie tends to go back and forth between the two possible plots and conflicts. It is very confusing to me. I actually chose this movie for two reasons. First of all, Will Ferrell in one of my favorite actors. I've loved him in every movie I've seen him in so far. The second reason is because this movie was suggested to me by mom to be added to my list. As I've said before, anything that mom suggests for me to watch will always get a score higher than what the movie would have received otherwise. Despite knowing nothing about the main plot, (having only heard the name of the movie up to that point and only being in the room at one point while it was playing and not paying attention to it,) I had to agree because I made it my mission to always give whatever mom likes a passing grade. However, I wasn't going to review this particular movie tonight. Tonight I was going to review the movie "Death To Smoochy" starring Robin Williams but I changed my mind due to time constraints. With this in mind, I had to scrape to find anything decent about this movie to prevent it from receiving a failing score. There are a few aspects of this movie that I could get behind. First of all, I love Will Ferrell as an actor. To be honest, I don't even know the other actor. However, my admiration for Will Ferrell will save this movie from an otherwise complete failure not because the movie was bad but because I simply know nothing about it. Also, I can never deny the fact that mom suggested this movie to me and in my never ending effort to make her happy, I agreed that this movie should at least be added to the list. One criticism I have about the movie itself is that Will Ferrell and the other guy spend way too much time trying to score with women. In my experience, they're wasting their time. It seems like everybody in this day and age has a goal to be in a relationship when being in a relationship is actually what caused me the biggest downward spiral in my life. Relationships just get on my nerves. It means having to care about what people think and having to do what they want ETC. I'm just happy being by myself if I'm being honest but since Will Ferrell wastes his time trying to score with a woman, he indirectly is wasting my time because I'm the guy whose currently watching the movie. The worst part of this movie was at the end when he actually agrees to marry someone only for that wedding to be ruined when he comes to his senses. It was at this point in the movie that I nearly fell asleep and realized that I would have likely been better off watching "Death To Smoochy." Having said that, Will Ferrell and mom saved this review from an otherwise failure of a review. I'm doing this since I'm not heartless. I think I'm being generous in giving this movie the score I'm about to give it. Like almost everything else in my life, mom is to thank for this boost in the overall rating and Will Ferrell can take some of the credit as well. He is what made this movie worth watching in my eyes. Also I can never not give mom credit for my generosity because had it not been for her, this movie wouldn't have even been on the list. However, as I'm feeling rather generous, I will say that this movie wasn't so bad but I've definitely seen better.

Jeff O Meter final score: 5 out of 10.
