Jeff’s take

This is a movie that I knew absolutely nothing about until earlier this afternoon. I took a trip to the local thrift store near where I live and I found the DVD of this movie. Upon reading the short review of it on the back, I figured I would give it a try as it appeared that the woman in this movie went through a lot of the same things mom went through when we were kids with the need to do things and the constant pressure to do things just right ETC. Speaking of pressure, this is something that we used to put on mom as kids, (of course we were too young to know what we were doing at the time), and expect to be given the most expensive things ETC. Looking back on this as an adult and seeing this in a movie, I realize that doing this only causes more stress on mom as it did in the movie and to me, this is what being spoiled is. Always expecting to get more than you think you will. What we didn't realize as kids is that the expectation for this put a lot of pressure on mom. This is what the little girl didn't realize in this movie.

For a movie that's supposed to be about raising kids, it seems like the entire movie was based around the woman feeling sorry for herself. At least once in every scene, she was complaining that someone was doing wrong by her in some way and hoping someone will care. Well until the very end of one scene, nobody did. At the very end of the scene in question, a driver tells another driver who is confronting her to cut her slack. This may have been sarcastic as the same person had just finished criticizing her over something himself. I don't even remember what it was. I wasn't paying attention. As a matter of fact, for this whole movie I was sidetracked by the thought of whether or not I should have watched the original movie I was going to watch. This would have been "Analyze This" with Billy Crystal but this was changed due to me starting the movie later than I should have and being too tired to view it much less review it. It would have been too long. Having said that, it surely would have been more entertaining than this one was. This movie was an hour and a half of pain and torture to sit through. It is also a movie that I didn't have to rent and it's a good thing I didn't because it would have been a waste of money. For anyone who uses Prime Video and has a Crave subscription, I urge you not to waste your time on this ridiculous movie that serves as a sob story for a woman. Don't get me wrong. I've been around 36 years and I know that as a child, mom needed some help in raising us and I'm sure there were some people who she had problems with but this woman in the movie takes this to a whole new level. She really epitomizes the fact that she gets no help and she complains about everything. Now I'm going to start complaining. This movie was no good and unless people want reasons to complain, I definitely would not view this movie. For two days straight, I reviewed John Candy movies, (The Great Outdoors and Uncle Buck respectively.) Those two days earned the Jeff O meter its first two perfect reviews. Well this movie is going to result in a first for the Jeff O meter. Not only will this movie perfectly fail but it will sink down below as far as the score is concerned. You probably don't think I can go lower than zero and most of the time you would be right. For this movie though I'm willing to make an exception and I hope this is the last time I have to do this. The only bit of solace I find with this review is that tomorrow's review will be so much better. No movie can possibly do any worse than this one did. I can only be glad that it's over now.

Jeff O meter final score -10 out of 10 (Negative score)
