How we evaluate products

Published Aug 14, 2026 · Updated Aug 14, 2026 · Buddha Savings

How we evaluate products — editorial photograph of an open notebook and pencil beside plain cardboard boxes on a wooden desk. Lifestyle imagery, not a photograph of a specific product.

The research method behind every Buddha Savings listing — what we read, what we deliberately leave out, and how we handle affiliate links.

Buddha Savings is a research site, not a testing lab. We do not receive samples, we do not physically test products, and we do not publish ratings, review scores or star counts. What we do is read Amazon.ca listings closely and publish only what the listing itself supports.

What we actually check

  • The product title and specification table, read line by line, including size, count, capacity and material.
  • Compatibility statements — the most common source of returns in electronics and replacement parts.
  • What is physically in the box, rather than what the marketing image implies.
  • Whether the listing is a single item or a multi-pack, because per-unit thinking changes the decision.
  • Category fit: whether the item belongs in a list a real household would build.

What we deliberately do not publish

We do not display prices, discount percentages, countdown timers, stock levels or review counts. Those values move constantly on Amazon.ca, and a stale number is worse than no number. When you follow a link, Amazon shows the current price and availability — that is the only figure worth trusting.

We also avoid health, safety and performance claims. For anything in Health & Personal Care, we describe the format and let the label and a qualified professional speak for the rest.

How a product gets listed

  1. We pick a category need — something a household reorders or replaces.
  2. We read the candidate listings on Amazon.ca and note the concrete, checkable facts.
  3. We write a plain description of what the item is, with no adjectives the listing cannot support.
  4. We place it in a category and, where it fits a theme, a collection.
  5. We re-read the live listing before publication, because listings change.

How affiliate links work here

Every outbound product button is an Amazon Associates link. If you buy something after following it, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. That relationship does not change which products we list or how we describe them, and it is disclosed on every page and in full on our affiliate disclosure page.

Common questions

Do you test the products?

No. We research and select — we never claim hands-on testing. Anything described here comes from the listing, the specification table or the manufacturer documentation.

Why is there no price on the page?

Because we cannot keep it accurate. Amazon.ca prices change without notice; publishing a snapshot would mislead more often than it would help.

How often is the list updated?

Listings are re-checked when they are revised, and anything we can no longer verify is removed rather than left in place.

Where should I start?

Browse all current finds, or start from a category if you already know what you need.
